A good place to start is a website called LookBook (http://lookbook.nu/).

It is essentially a blogging website where people can upload their "latest looks or trends". Other users of the site can them rate them ("hype them"). Although it isn't to everyone's taste, it can certainly give a broad overview of current fashion and more importantly inspire your own choice of clothing. So, if a whole look is not your thing but you like the way his jeans are worn, you can steal that idea for yourself. :)

I have been searching for a website like FashionBeans (http://www.fashionbeans.com/) for so so long. It is an easy to read, extremely informative and very up to date fashion guide for men. It has articles about EVERYTHING.

From how to buy a suit (http://www.fashionbeans.com/mens-fashion-basics/mens-fashion-basics-part-16-buying-a-suit/) to profiles of male designers (http://www.fashionbeans.com/collections/designer-profile-j-w-anderson/) and even the latest trends (http://www.fashionbeans.com/mens-fashion-trends/future-fashion-trend-swinging-back-to-the-60s/).
It's a good website to have on your homepage as the articles are short with just enough information, not at all patronising and has plenty of images so you can understand what the author is chatting about! :p

Although i might be considered bias as i work for them, i simply can't recommend ASOS.com enough. They have hundreds of brands with prices ranging from £20 for a pair of jeans right up to Filson and Pendleton jackets costing £500 or so. It's always worth looking at the Outlet section and seeing what's on special offer. Also they update their Facebook pages at least once a week with constant promotions and special offers.

You don't need to spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds to be in fashion. All it takes is a small bit of research (just look around and see what people wear when you walk down the high street) and perhaps browsing a few magazines. The trick is to buy a few "basics" and adjust your wardrobe accordingly.

The above is a very good read. For example, a white t-shirt doesn't go out of fashion but the neckline and fit will always need to be slightly different depending on what you will be wearing. If you want to wear a neckchain, i personally prefer a more distressed looking t-shirt but if i am wearing a hoodie over the top (with the hoodie mostly done up), i don't need anything special and a normal crew cut would be fine. It's just common sense.

After a while i have become fussier about the brands i wear, to the point where i won't buy certain brands because of the way the logo looks or just the name. :o I wouldn't wear Jack & Jones, Fenchurch, Carhartt, G-Star, FCUK or Ringspun for example...just not to my taste as a brand.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but why has emaciation become a requisite for men's fashion? I appreciate that it has been that way for women for a long time, which may have something to do with it, but surely that cannot be the whole story?

I pride myself on not being in fashion :)

Howies sale for excellent quality items!

Hollister and Superdry make nice checked shirts (although superdry are a bit overpriced)

pair of old vans era's

scatter in some bmx tshirts and thats most of my wardrobe ha

Well I liked the thread and along with some of the other posters it has given me something to think about in regards to spending more wisely especially.

You're welcome old chap, that was the only intention of the thread form the get-go. You have to expect the usual OCUK flaming, it just wouldn't be OCUK otherwise. :D

hehe well I am 23, 5'7 (so shorter than average) and 33" waist (could be slimmer, too much working away eating in hotels is not good for me :p) so I will be avoiding the slim fit jumper :(

By the time I have lost some weight the slim fit wardrobe is what I will be aiming for
