They are nice. They look quite shiny though. Obviously shiny shoes are nice but I don't want to blind people :p Might just be the photo.

Not got my size, as per bloody usual.

Mhmmm not a fan to be honest, bit of an inelegant and blunt design especially for 120 quid. Personally i've now migrated from laceless slip-ons (which I used to swear by) to laced formal shoes. They look so much smarter in general. However in comparison to the shoes you posted I much prefer the styles from Base and Ted Baker, and they are cheaper too. Check Samuel Windsor out, they have some great (handmade) designs and outrageously cheap prices in comparison to mainstream designer brands. http://www.samuel-windsor.co.uk/

I just want some simple black shoes for a reasonable price and don't mind paying a bit extra if it means some poor sod hasn't died in the process of them being made.

This seems to be mission impossible. I don't want anything fancy, simple loafer type jobby will do. Not too shiny, nothing flashy, just simple.

Check my edit. :p

Check my edit too please!

Brown shoes DO go with a black suit when they are dark brown and ALWAYS accompanied by a matching brown belt (same goes for whatever colour shoes you wear). Try and avoid tan brown if you don't want to look a bit daft in a business environment. However black shoes with black suit and belt can never fail, and should be the staple of any business wardrobe. Be more creative with the shirts and tie (but never combine striped shirt and striped tie, or striped suit and striped shirt) if you like, but try and leave the core basics intact and co-ordinated.

IMO x 10.

Shoes in the first link are fine, the picture only is making them look overly shiny (due to bright lighting used in the photo), in real life they will be darker. Second link is broken. :)

Very nice, me likey, but I would personally never spend that amount on shoes even though I can comfortably afford it. Better to have 3x pairs of good business shoes under £60 than one pair of great shoes for £180 imo. Everyday business shoes take wear and tear, and id rather buy 2 or 3 pairs a year than stick to one pair (again, im giving my own opinion based on my own personal view of shoe worth). Anyone can look as good in a pair of £40 hand-made shoes, as someone can look in a pair of £180 hand-made shoes as long as they are well-made. There really is little difference other than price in the long-term if you get either resoled every 6 months. I personally spend good money on casual shoes (love Tommy Hilfiger), but not for work.

I got those. In fact I have them in brown and black. Love 'em.

Question for all the City boys and general suit wearers. Does everybody go for double cuff and if so, why?

I've been wearing them since starting my job back in August. But I can't stand having to do all that extra ironing. Yeah I could send my shirts to the dry cleaners but on a graduate salary that's not ideal money being spent. So today I bought another four shirts from TM and I've been brave and just gone for the double button cuff. So much less agg, especially when in a rush in the morning.

I dont buy double cuff at all any more... its a pain in the arse. I always find when you rest your hand on a mouse/desk all day that the double cuff and accompanying cufflink gets in the way and makes your wrist uncomfortable (but then again I now suffer form RSI, so maybe im a little biased).

Anyway, a double cuff is extra ironing over a single cuff, surely?

Agghhh I just made a very emotional purchase hehe... the Adidas Star Wars Rebel X-Wing Military Hoodie Jacket...

I saw it on someone the other day and straight away I was like "Where did you get that". Very limited edition though apparently so went out of stock here very quickly. :o

I'm looking for a watch. Something vintage and classy. Please no links to the tacky white watches people seem to be wearing lately.

There's a dedicated watch thread for that, may be more suitable for you. :)

Ah I want these oh so very much but I really don't know what to wear with them :(

My friend works at Dr Martens so I can get a 65% discount, putting them at £47.

Good God... I don't think anything exists that would go with them... horrendous design. :p

P.S. Please put large pics in quote tags so people don't go quoting them everywhere.

If that look is in fashion, I for the first time feel properly old. Who would want to dress like that?

That is a pure niche fashion, likely cobbled together for the photo, and if not then there's a stylist or two slightly out of touch. You would rarely, if ever, see anyone wearing that, even among the more adventurous yoof. Horrendous. :o

Don't think £300 is that much for a good quality winter coat?

It depends what your idea of good quality is and the materials that you want. For a pure wool coat then £300 can be an average price to pay for a decent example (£600 is in the realms of Calvin Klein luxury coats), but you can still get them cheaper in the sales.

Why should a shirt cost 3x the price of a T-Shirt? They both have very similar material costs.

No they don't, shirts are thicker and have quite a bit more material, and shirts are also about 10x more complex to create in terms of tailoring. T-shirts are simple in comparison!
