The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

Do you think yours would run 1200MHz, given any voltage and be safe to run 24/7 inside an average to good case?

Don't get me wrong, 1100MHz+ is a really good overclock but too many people think 1200MHz is the norm and from most user reviews that is not the case. I think very few cards will run such speeds safely without very good cooling and a very nice GPU.

My launchday ASUS 5850 used to do 1GHz stable for benching but I would not run it 24/7 at those speeds, even inside a HAF-X case. It also seems that only the launch GPU's performed this well, because later versions (iincluding my 2nd ASUS 5850) never clocked anywhere near as good. I think AMD launches the cherries to begin with to achieve rave reviews. I am sure NVidia does the same.

i duuno mate never tried as its playing all games at silly fps so no need to push it anymore yet i will give it ago at some stage just to see but if the new nvidia card is a 7970 killer then ill get one of them

Don't you have to pay the Georgian 18% VAT on goods shipped from abroad?

In the UK if we ordered one of these cards from the USA we'd have to pay 20% VAT plus any other applicable duties and fees.

i will teach u one trick

in Georgia we aren't paying vat under 300 Lari its about 170 baxs

u have to pay vat for what u pay only its just law

so we Georgians send money by cash to mate he will buy gift card and sends to me

for example gtx cost 500 obama i will give him 330 obama for gift card he will buy and send by email, then i will go and add gift card so i only have to pay 170 obama :D

I don't know about Georgia but that wouldn't work in the UK.

If the goods are worth more than a modest amount the VAT has to be paid on the value of the goods imported regardless of how they were paid for, if you paid for them yourself or if they are a gift.

Why do people think 7970's do 1200mhz with ease. They don't, 1200mhz is ringing the nuts out of the card and very few people would it 24/7. 1100mhz is probably the max safe stable 24/7 clocks.

Have mine running at 1150 24/7, never had any problems with heat or anything, and i'm only using AMD's CCC to overclock it, no aftermarket AB/Trixx or anything

And yes, it will run 24/7 at 1200mhz, but there is really no need to as there's not a lot it can't do at 1150mhz!

i dont know exactly uk laws about transportation but i have 5 friends and one brother in uk and all of them are buying from usa without paying any vat

It can't outdo my 6950>70 CrossFire@950MHz@1080p 24/7 on 9/10 games which was cheaper over a year ago(probably applies to Kepler too)!;)

I'm running a single monitor 1920x1080 lol, play BF3 with 60hz vsync at 60fps with ultra preset. I get 60fps at 1150mhz, and 60fps at 1200mhz derp

How you manage that CCC sliders only go up to 1125-1575mhz. I could take more juice easily max temps only 83c 7970 xfire.

Maybe they are but unless there are circumstances I'm not aware of then they would be guilty of tax evasion.

Absoloutely. I would rather give OCUK my money for a new Kepler or other hardware, as I believe in keeping British Industry going by buying from the UK. I will certainly be happy to pay my VAT to buy a GFX card.

Whoever is cheapest gets my money (subject to NVidia launch pricing being reasonable), and if that is OcUK all the better. I have no loyalty.

I can run them unlocked@stock clocks and get that though.;)

If I was to 'upgrade' to a single 7970(more than likely Kepler too), it would give me slower performance all round.
