The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

It will all be done and no problems putting them side by side but sadly I have no time at the mo and need to do a shift at work (2-10) but will be on it tonight. I have done some decent testing through most of last night and early today, so getting to grips with the card. Did some overclocking on the core and seemed to cope well at 1128mhz.

Really looking forward to doing a review of this card :)

Same shifts has me real killer in this nice summer days.. :D I do wounder what this GPU will do once we get voltage control can we expect much?

Temps are not holding it back so maybe around 1300 will be a reasonable clock.

I did try for a little higher on the core but it was a no :( With voltage control, a decent one should be hitting 1250Mhz.

BF4 seemed to run much better on Dx11 there, Mantle plummeted to around 57. :p

Batman seemed to run ok, considering how bad its supposed to be :D

Got me monitor back on order now, be picking it up Friday, so if its a v1, i'll have it updated and back, all ready for when i can get my FX, also be able to use it on my 290 through the DP then as well until i get it, @ 144Hz still. :D

What OS are you using? Do you think you might do new benches when W10 is out? It would be interesting to get that comparison.

Nice! Interested to see if the reduced driver overhead some are claiming will make a significant difference. Apparently the difference between W7 and W10 should be very noticeable.

The overhead will be there albait win 10 wont change the dx11 path the games are using today, the OS itself might have optimizations allowing for less stuff going on to improve fps in games but it will be up to the driver unless they patch the games for dx12 paths.

Fury 2 - 13 days

They are reworking the drivers, so the overhead will be reduced

Win 10 + new drivers has wayyyyyyyyyyy less overhead, many many videos showing this. Project cars is a good example I saw, 90 fps in windows 8 compared to 140 in windows 10.

Any chance of some info from our resident AMD rep regarding the whine sounds & as to if a revision due out soon or if this issue has actually been resolved?.

Still keen on taking a Fury-X or two, but don't want one with a tinnitus simulator installed. :p

Am just hanging in there for new stock to come.. I have a feeling now this isn't 100% facts just how am seeing it..

That some these GPUs with the pump noise shouldn't have been sold and was re-view samples..

AMD said this would be fixed and am guess that when new stock comes it should be sorted hopefully!

From what i read, all new stock should have the pump noise fixed. And the coil wine is a sign of a bad power supply or Noisy power lines in your area. You can fixed the noisy power lines by using a Power Conditioner.

Has someone somewhere really suggested it is the local power grid causing these problems?

I hope it is rubbish and is a misquote from somewhere that has been picked up on.

Overclocker's Dream..... ;)

:p

Well it would be 200Mhz over stock but yer, I have to agree. I have a waterblock for my TX but just not installed it but a massive plus for the Fury X for running cool and quiet. It might even inspire me to put the block on lol.

But yer, my TX runs all day long at 1420Mhz which is 200Mhz over the boost clock.

Really annoys me when people say nvidia cards overclock "so much better" than AMD cards, then quote the base clock to final overclocked boost clock comparison and say like "oh my god 50% overclock" Lmfao... idiots... you need to compare out of the box observed boost clock (not just what it is advertised as) with fully overclocked boost clock to see how much you are really overclocking. Hawaii isn't an amazing overclocker by any means, maxwell is better yeah, but its hardly an insanely large amount of difference, usually the MHz gain is around the same, which funnily enough, is an advantage for AMD, since each Hz gives more performance in hawaii than maxwell.

With voltage unlocking I am hoping this will be able to get pretty high. I mean I can get 1200 out of my r9 290 with 120mv, GCN 1.2 overclocks better than 1.1, so I am hoping 1300 with 200mv. 24% overclock isn't bad imo, very similar to reference 980Ti overclocking (although it does need more volts to get there... 200mv compared to 50mv).

Well so far my flagship Nvidia card clocks 200Mhz over boost clocks and my flagship AMD cards clock 78Mhz over Base clocks and both on stock volts....

Yeah, but remember the lower clock speed of AMD overall. If you take that into account, the percentage difference is not much. There is a difference, maxwell does overclock better, thats pretty much a given, but its hardly as huge a deal as some people like to make out. Just with some quick guesswork each MHz of hawaii/fury is worth 14-20% more than each MHz in maxwell, as the stock boost clock of 980ti and titan X is 1202, whereas hawaii/fury is either 1000 or 1050.

Using that you can see the 218 MHz you get on your Titan X compared to the 78MHz you get on the Fury X is worth around 90MHz of maxwell clocks. Might seem a little pedantic, not a huge difference really, but its still a difference.
