The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

So my 2 sapphire fury x's have shipped from overclockers today, although I'm still uncertain whether I would prefer 2 x 980 ti's, is any one else in the same position? (Moved from nvidia to Amd) and what the change in experince is like?

I often switch back and forth between the 2 (currently have AMD in most of my machines but do have Nvidia in one).

I doubt you'll notice any issues really. DDU or something may be an idea to completely remove the old drivers is probably my only advice.

Personally I've probably had a few more minor issues with AMD drivers but not as many as you might think given the reputation of AMD drivers. Certainly not enough to stop me buying AMD hardware.

I can't speak for the FuryX cards specifically because OcUK won't send me the ones I've paid for, but in general I doubt you'll notice much difference once you've gotten used to CC instead of the Nvidia Control Panel.

If you use ShadowPlay (I don't) I understand you may be a little disappointed by AMD's Gaming Evolved/Raptr application (but I've barely used that either).

If you tend to use your Graphics cards to encode video you may find Nvidia's codec is supported by a few more things than AMD's at present.

Just gone over to the dark side so I will find out whether Nvidia are as good as they claim. My apologies to Amd and users as I swore never to use Nvidia again after the 970 fiasco, however Amd have forced my hand as there is no stock of the Fury X and therefore I cant buy one, the price gouging hasn't helped and various other Amd foul ups have eroded my confidence in them. I may be back in the future Amd so buck up. :(

Just give them a look when 14nm is out. Whilst I am more swayed to Nvidia, that doesn't stop me (or anyone) from buying what I want and in the last 2 AMD cards, I had no problems so to speak. A couple of things changed would be cool or at least improved upon and I have mentioned them a couple of times but other than that, I was very happy.

Enjoy anyways and yer, Fury X stock is poor but HBM seems to be the problem and not enough of it :(

You are right Gregster but I was never happy with the 4GB thing, Hbm or not, no stock was the killer for me and even now only one Fury card available, just not good enough from Amd really. Aye, we will see what the new process brings but this purchase of the 980Ti is a lot of money which I had saved up and I was hanging on for something from Amd but I was starting to look at new tellys and laptops so I had to move for a 4K card now before I spent the money on something else LOL. :D

Fair one and you sound like me with money burning a hole in your pocket :D

It would be nice if you could upload a video of your silent QuadFire non-whine Fury X's. Just a quick demonstration showing low noise is feasible.

how people do not understand that any attempt to record anything with any daily gamer recording device is pointless, as todays microphones just bring too much noise. Unless the room is sound proof lab and you have some decent microphone.
every time I try to record anything in my room, my various microphones make it sound like I am in a frikkin airport, even though my room is quite quiet

hi all.

after much demand i have uploaded some scores for fire strike. i used a test ssd and didn't realise the sysinfo was unable to read my cards clocks, also will need to update the vantage version. this will be done for my next runs.

this is my best fs score so far
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5476446 card at 1195mhz core and 595mhz hbm
Extream http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5476467 same clocks
still difficult to maintain high clocks in these

new cloud gate and vantage scores

http://www.3dmark.com/cg/2912011 H.O.F 11th place single card 49th fastest ever at 1220mhz core / 630mhz hbm
Vantage (v1.1) http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/5309828 H.O.F 15th place single card 52nd fastest ever i think with same clocks as CG or very similar.

all runs done at 1.29/1.32 +100mv in AB once TDP limit in the bios is sorted i really believe the card can do a lot more. i can remake the video showing some everyday ocs that are possible. not sure about releasing exactly how i have achieved this yet as it can be rather buggy but i will say it was achieved using msi AB 3rd party control methods.

Hmm, score doesn't really seem to be scaling much in FS. Then again what's stock graphics score, around 16k?

I saw your cloudgate score and thought that's a fantastic boost up compared to my 1100Mhz fury x score (~41700), and then I saw your cpu frequency and bitchslapped myself a little bit :D

any chance to run same tests at same cpu frequency but with stock and OCed fury x? just to see how it scales?

just look at the graphics score instead.

my vantage graphics score with single fury x@1111Mhz is 57800 compared to Joshy's 65300. And, yeah, firestrike doesn't scale that great (driver issue?): my graphics score 17166vs18105
mine was run with core @ 1111Mhz and hbm at 570Mhz

Why isn't firestrike reporting any overclocks on the fury?

It probably simply doesn't understand it yet, same as a load of other stuff.

Well I have my PC all prepped and ready, can't wait for the postman to arrive :D

You won't be disappointed. Unless touch wood you get whine.

On firestrike not scaling Il add I get strange results. My graphics results go up and down I actually got less points with my cpu overclocked higher, but the physics score went up? At stock iv gotten 15200gpu score once and under 15000 the next time.
Is 750w psu enough for fury and overclocked 3570k?
