The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I've been saying it since mantle came about and dx12 was announced that the Api was made for mmorpg type games IMO. I've been playing MMO's since the late 90's and the one thing they all suffered from in raids was graphic lag.

If dx12 means you can have 40 people on screen with all the bells and whistles enabled with spells going off left and right and the bosses lobbing their effects around and it not go slideshow mode then I will be happy.

I remember during eq1 having to stare at the ground as a healer during some raids lol due to the gfx lag. I know things have gotten better over the years but if you could drag DAOC into a new engine and have 200 or so people on screen with all effects on and not lag that would be heaven.

Yes I know netcode would probably still hold you back to an extent of what would be possible without lagging out the client but you could definitely improve the overall look of the game I'm sure

If anyone believes that we are expecting something spectacular just from win 10 update, they need to stop visiting any IT forums and take up fishing instead.

I checked on Friday to see if MS had made win10 available on its volumetric licensing servers and it's not there yet ;)

Need to get it sorted soon so I can get it on our sccm platform to get it ready to push out to hardware onsite. I have the win10 preview on my Lumia 920 and it's not bad. I pulled it off my PC and went back to 8.1 quite a few builds ago as it broke my audio drivers but I'm expecting that to be fixed now.

Ordered a new Dell 7450 at work for myself and hoping win10 is available by the time it's delivered so i can get testing what does and doesn't work at a corporate level.

Tried to convince my boss I need a decent gpu in my laptop but he wasn't having it haha

Speaking of DAoC isn't the sequel out by now?

/off to google

Ha that's still in an alpha / early beta stage, Camelot Unchained. Looking good though, also Pantheon Rise of the Fallen looks good and that's using a Unity engine which is dx12 compliant so maybe in the future they may add dx12 to that too

you are absolutely right. MMOs could have huge boost with dx12. Too bad the devs do not update their engines very often or use leading edge APIs :(
I remember being hooked to Champions online with 7970s, and during xmas fest I would be having real slide show at some gatherings :(

Since I have both cards in the same system now I can easily do benchmarks, got a few at 1680 by 1050, settings were on ultra or very high, same settings used for both cards, the FX was at stock and the 970 was at 1450mhz 7.4GHz for the first benchmarks I believe but not in GTAV, it lost the overclock when I restarted windows.

Tomb Raider 2013

970 - average 111 min 86
FX - average 119 min 92

Bioshock Infinite

970 - average 137
FX - average 159.32

Sleeping Dogs

970 - av 80.5 min 46.6
FX - av 111 min 74.4

GTAV

970 - av 58 max 124
FX - av 68 max 176

GTAV was the only game where I noticed a visual difference in performance.
Also with my skyrim install the 970 outperforms the FX.

I'm sorry did you say 1680x1050?
I understand everyone has their own fettish, but I have to ask:
Why do you have 970gtx with screen resolution like that let alone fury x?

Mostly compensating for poor optimization, this is running on a Fury X, 18 frames per second

I have a 4K monitor but the colours are very muted because it was a first generation TN rather than IPS. Also said earlier in the thread that I like professional artist monitors and I dont know of any that are WLED backlit,
in my experience the colour scale produced from them is too cold compared
to CCFL and if you try to compensate it ends up skewing certain components
for example grey ends up with a red tint

Also dont forget that 1440p monitors are a relatively new thing, they were not readily available until the past 2 years or so and decent 4K monitors were very expensive.

lmao 1050p.

Remember this - the monitor is your gateway to your PC and the thing you interact with most. Buying or using a crap one is a complete false economy.

In this day and age I would not settle for anything less than 1440p, but you really ought to be looking into 4k now that we have proper 4k cards from both teams.

Ended up ordering an msi 6g this afternoon, couldn't be arsed waiting any longer for amd to get their thumb out.

Tis a real shame :(

I would have just got the Gigabyte from elsewhere, but with never using them before, i don't know what they'd be like if its whiner, don't want a right **** on if it is.

Was looking at the gigabyte, the asus strix, the zotac amp and the msi. The gigabyte seems to have a lot of coil whine issues, the strix is laughably overpriced, the zotac supposedly some of them have issues with the fan controller, also it looks a bit weird having that logo on it and it doesn't light up despite looking like it should.

The msi fits in with my red and black theme, and is apparently very quiet. Also seems to be the one i've read about with not too many issues that are rearing their heads. I suppose if you look around enough you can find issues with just about any card though.

This shows how much of **** up lunch this was....
Now people are buying NV even tho they wanted FX cause... Cant buy them anywhere.... Talking people that been saving for gpu and waiting for one for months..
