The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

AMD also co developed GDDR5, did nvidia have any problems adopting that?

And you are wrong, AMD doesnt assemble the interposers, that's done by a third party is Korea, probably Hynix.

In terms of GPU chip design, HBM is not massively different to gddr, its just traces from the memory controller on the outside edge of the chip, the difficult bit is assembling the chips and interposer, and that's not done by AMD/Nvidia.

Where did I say they developed interposer? I said, they buy it. nvidia was quite late with GDDR5 GPUs, so yes I think they did have issues with memory controller for GDDR5 ;)

Well, lets look at history repeating shall we... The 4870 was the first card with gddr5, it wasn't as fast as the gtx280 by about 20% and despite selling relatively well due to being half the price of the gtx280, nvidia maintained 67% discrete market share. Arguably, nvidia weren't late with gddr5, they just didnt need it to stay competitive.

Being first with new technology doesnt do anyone any good unless you actually capitalise on it.

In fact AMD were also on 55nm and the 280 was 65nm, and even with both a die shrink and gddr5 they weren't able to get ahead.

@AMDMatt, do you have any suggestions or advice on why Corsair Link is interfering with Fury X fan speeds? Fury X fan profile is set to 75C and 66% speed in CCC, yet fans are full blast at 2900rpm and GPU temp is 46C :/ When Corsair Link is not installed, I do not see this kind of overcompensation. I deleted everything regarding GPUs in corsair link, yet it still does something to fury x fans :/

and why CCC doesn't let me pick which card to tinker with once I disable xfire? In xfire mode I can pick which card to adjust, but with xfire disabled, I do not have this choice anymore. Why?

Sounds like a question for Corsair.

As for the second question because it counts the first gpu in slot one as the first gpu.

I think I'm being trolled.. Furys 10+ in stock, order still not dispatched :( I might order the second one tomorrow depending on if they bother shipping this one some time soon :P

Same here I ordered what I thought was the lasy Asus Fury X at 1PM, It literally just changed to "Printed in the Warehouse" I have a feeling I'm not getting it tomorrow, CS said it's there and will be shipped today but AFAIK OCUK don't ship things after 6PM do they ?

Yeah, but I noticed you had corsair AIO, thought maybe you have some suggestions. What version of the Link do you run?
3000rpm on idle GPU

But what about the second GPU? If I am still doing things with second GPU even though it is not in xfire, I would love to see it in CCC.

I don't use it. I'm using Noctua Industrial 140MM 3,000 RPM fans, connected via Motherboard. They're set at silent speed in the mobo and controlled by Asus AI Suite II software at a very low speed.
