The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

Do take in mind that recording anything in room with other noises is kinda pointless to portray your noise issue to others. Unless you are in soundproof room with some studio quality equipment. I remember I used to chat with my mates while playing and they would say why it is so noisy in my room, even though it was quite silent. Normal mics are very bad at recording something I. Regards to noise.

I dunno if it's your mic amplifying something.. but there's definitely a med-high pitch whirr Loadsa..

Nevermind, just opened my case and put my ear near mine and I can hear a similar noise -- I don't hear it with the case closed though. :D

Yes these sound tests really need to be done with the case closed and at a normal position where your head would be during normal pc usage. If you make any video with even an air cooled card you will get similar high pitched sound at close range. Having said that I think a high pitched sound would annoy me like I've heard in some of the early FX samples.

sound is highly subjective and sensitivity to some ranges of sound are highly individual. so some can think its silent while someone else can hear things straight trough. You can hear sounds better if you really listen for them also.
How does your coffemaker sound btw?
once your sensitized to that sound you can always hear it.
Thats also what happens here for some they are actively listen which reinforce the sensitivity in some cases.

and in others it just loud and whiny.
then rma.

I recorded the first half of the video without a GPU. I did this so you could quickly determine the sound coming from my PC without a GPU in place. Second Half of the video shows the Fury X and the added noise it omits.

The card was faulty. We are ALL fully aware there is still noisy pumps doing the rounds. You only have to look at Forums, Reviews, Articles, Youtube. AMD also are fully aware.

:cool::cool::cool:

It's unfortunate that there still seem to be a few of the noisy pumps doing the rounds. Hopefully in time we will see only the new revision pumps in retail. :)

Every week I write a report that goes to HQ. Every week I link individual posts that reference Fury X issues. I'm relaying your feedback guys! It's now up to HQ to resolve this. Pump whine is an issue and everyone knows this. We're working to fix all of this though as it wouldn't be right for us (AMD) to settle for something that's just not up to scratch.

If AMD want to fix this? Stop Retailers putting dodgy stock back in circulation! I raised an RMA and sent that card back due to "high pitched whine" OC'S SAY they tested the card and it didn't show an issue. Seriously! That card had Pump whine Issues.

Some days later I got a refund. Ok! What about return costs? If a product is faulty is it not the retailers responibility to reimburse return costs? I asked this question as I was still £17 out of pocket and sent a picture of my receipt.

I got a reply from OC'S this morning.

Unfortunatly as the item was unwanted im unable to refund the postage. The
test did not show an issue and you were just refunded as you were within 14
days.

Just an update. Overclockers have since been in contact and reimbursed my return costs. They say the item was booked in by mistake as 'unwanted' and didn't issue the refund back as a result. Anyhow got my money back.

Thanks overclockers

Damn, Sounds like crap! I mean no offense.

Thats ones not mine, just found it on YT.:)

I can hear it with the case closed, can even hear it over my case fans (got 3x going), its not really the loudness, as its not too loud, its just the pitch, as its high :p

Nice one. :)

I wouldn't be bothered if it whined, but only if i could hear it when ive got the side off, and im down on the floor with my head in the case, and my ear up against it, if sitting and using normally i couldn't hear it, id be happy, but a constant high pitch EEEE, just irritates after a while :p

If you dare to order another one I'm going to find you and I'm going to kill you....

:D

Maybe it would help if we made a checklist for people reporting whine:

- where is the mic, is the case open, how far is your head from the case etc
- are you a silentpc nutter
- where are you on the autism spectrum

That type of thing.

The noise is not loud, its just impossible to ignore. My dehumidifier is loud but it dose not bother me, if i turn it off all i con hear is the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and its a ******** nightmare. My case is about 1m from me.

:D

Id just go 2x Furys, but worried about the temps, and can't just try 2, as if the temps were bad, id have to send one back, leaving me out of pocket, as would just have to go back unwanted, so be a restocking fee or whatever, gah! :(

I just ordered a Sapphire Fury for delivery tomorrow, I've had enough of waiting and it seems there's still a risk with the X so the Fury it is.

I don't blame you tbh.

Well my Fury X did start out sounding normal'ish, Turned it on this morning and WOW, Holy hell.

It seems while it was off during the night it decided to turn into a banshee XD

EEEEEEEEE--MD

You shouldn't have to put up with that constantly, it'll drive you insane.
