The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

AMD scale much better than nVidia. And tbh if you're planning on multi-gpu with either card, you're probably running 4k - at which the Fury X is better than the Ti anyway -- so it's a double whammy with better base performance and then better scaling on top.

No, the Ti is still better at 4k, it's just at that resolution the FuryX is very very close.

The multi-GPU results sees,s all over the place TBH. The Furies do seem do scale well in some Games but then we have people like Kapp who has 4 tXs and 4 FuryX's and claims the Titans are much better.

the problems with FuryX in crossfire for 4K is you will hit the 4Gb VRAM limit much more easily.

My second fury X sounded abit like a vacuum cleaner :p
If my computer room door was open. With my case door shut I could hear my Fury X two bedrooms down. Sadly I can't prove this as I've sent it back but you can listen to the Fury X I purchased with the case door open if you search some of my previous posts as I added a video.
Of course not all Fury X are noisy but a high percentage of the cards available have the high pitch whine and it's that frequency that's most annoying.

I saw your video, I think if you stuck a microphone inside any mainstream case you'd get more noise. My own hd 7970 is far louder as soon as I start running any online videos and easily drowned yours out whilst watching it...

If you don't see the irony of accusing someone of cherry picking and then ONLY showing stock reference card results then I don't know what else to say

At least the review I showed had both reference and after market results

When the Fury X has proper OC results to compare then I'm sure that'd work. I'm not sure how you think super OC Ti results are fair to compare to Fury X - surely stock vs stock and OC vs OC is the fair way to go?
However, I can see some argument for the fact that the Ti DOES OC and the Fury currently doesn't in favour of comparing OC to non-OC, though I don't think you could argue that it'd be fair -- would be presently accurate.... Who knows :)

Depends what games you play;
http://www.techspot.com/review/1033-gtx-980-ti-sli-r9-fury-x-crossfire/

I know matt has done a good job "proving" furyx scaling in Dirt3, but not everyone plays just that game

I'm sorry. But he proved that xfire scales near perfectly almost in every game which supports xfire. I get nearly double performance out of my xfire fury x in gta, crysis and pcars get quite a boost from second card.

there is no denying that currently xfire scaling is as perfect a it can be.

It works for my 4k well enough. Not quite sure where some folk get this idea that it wouldn't.

yeah, some people ;)

the only game I was worried about at 4k was GTA V and it has no issues at all in it with vram. I have yet to come across the game which would push the usage above 4Gb. I don't know who's to 'blame' for this, but maybe AMD really done some optimisations in their latest drivers.

That video was taken on idle. You can clearly see that on the Fury X GPU load indicator. I've had two MSI 7970's in xfire and they were far, far quieter than a single fury X on idle. Even while watching videos they were quiet. Yes on full load 7970 is louder than a Fury X. The 7970 fans can certainly move a lot of air when cranked. :D

Just out of interest? Do you own or have you ever owned a Fury X? It's hard to fully understand what all the fuss is about unless you have experienced it..

What's the deal with HDMI 2.0 anyway... I hear it's considered "legacy" already and uptake seems to have been very slow? From what I can see the new 4K Blu Rays coming later this year will have HDR and you need the new HDMI 2.0a to get that, is that why?

A bit about power consumption of furys x. Non scientific I might add :))
It is known that superflower 1600w PSU which I have, has eco mode where fans does not spin till certain load and temp of PSU internals is reached. During testing of superflower PSU fan kicks in only when it requires to provide 800w in cool lab conditions. So we have this thing called summer here. Weekend +25-30C. Room is cooking. My 2 Fury xs are folding full blast, i7 [email protected] is folding as well, yet superflower PSU fan is not spinning. So non scientific conclusion is: superflower PSUs are awesome, 2xfury xs do not want 800w. But when I set PSU to normal mode, its fan is spinning and is frikkin loud :/

You're missing the point which was to show the crossfire setup scaling very well on the review I showed.

Also, the review you showed didn't even say what the Fury x was overclocked too! and by you're logic oc to oc is the only fair comparison. In that case a 15% oc on the Fury x is the most fair comparison which means the fury needs to be running @ 1207mhz, which I bet my back teeth it wasn't.

Oh the irony.
