The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

It seems the Fury X is interfering with my Blue Yeti microphone.

A few people in Skype told me the static was insane.

I managed to borrow an old AMD 4850 and I took out the Fury X as that's the only thing that's changed with my system as of late and the static stopped.

Put the Fury X back in and boom static sound is back.

Apart from sending the Fury X back as I talk to clients a lot via Skype is there anything that can be done ?

If Matt's suggestion doesn't help, try checking sound card. If you are using integrated one, that might be culprit, since those tend to be utter crap insulating background interference.

Matt, why wasn't new driver put under new revision? instead of 15.7.1, do 15.7.2. And driver on AMD website is dated last month.

the performance per watt is because it's cut down and underclocked though surely?
unlocking and overclocking to FuryX levels will see it right back at the same perf/watt as a FuryX

It is only slightly lower clocked than the other Fury implementation by 40MHZ and is massively ahead in performance/watt:

Its down to the custom PCB used by the Asus card, whereas the other cards use the reference ones.

It is the only custom PCB Fury card available currently.

Loads of sites have commented on the Asus card being the most efficient of all of them.

It makes me wonder what a Fury X with a custom PCB and a decent air cooler would do. Not having a water cooler would also save power over using an AIO water cooler.

If anyone's wondering about OC's support btw...
Hi Mark. You are connected to Rich. How can I help you?
You:Hi again Rich - just asked about merging orders. Forgot to mention...
You:I didn't received my Haribo in order OCxxxxxx -- Very disappointed :( Can I expect double in my next one? :P
Rich:Hi, I am aware of your enquiry, I will be with you shortly. Thank you for your patience.
Rich:Hey Mark, lol we shall give you more haribo
You:Much obliged -- this is why I shop here :D

Best service in UK right here. Did the guys who had to RMA the X's get more Haribo?

290 pro could be fully unlocked early on because yields were so good and not enough stock of salvage part. As far as yields go for the Fiji GPU itself it doesn't appear to be quite that good as there are many bad CUs in unlock attempts so far.

438mm2 in 2013 vs 600mm2 in 2015. Wouldn't expect it to be much worse?

Not sure why you expect this thread to be any different heh read posts 5, 7 etc. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18135744 happens here to any GPU from either brand that has a less than ideal launch.

But this thread is different Rroff, It's an Owners thread, we all know it's been a crappy launch from AMD, there's bugger all stock and this pump whine issue needs sorting asap.

I'm grateful to the "OWNERS" that have shared their experiences, good and bad, what I'm not grateful for is the billion other forum members repeating these issues over and over again, when they neither own, or have owned a Fury X.

I don't go into the 980TI Owners thread and constantly go on about it's poor scaling in SLI or how the latest drivers haven't been that great, i wouldn't do that, It's an owners thread, I'd expect people posting in it to be aware of the issues.

Maybe I'm being naive, but i thought an OWNERS thread is somewhere owners can share experiences, advice and tips etc.

I can't for the life of me understand why some people are so blinded by a brand that they feel the need to post negative crap constantly or talk about them with such venom/passion.

I don't give a crap about AMD nor do i give a crap about NVIDIA, why should i? they don't care for me, or even know i exist, all we are to these companies is another sale of a gpu so for anyone to look upon them any other way is imo totally ridiculous.

Anyway i've rambled on enough, back to the topic at hand, after a mammoth gaming session on the Witcher 3 last night i noticed i could hear one of my cards making that "EEEEEEEEEEEEEE" whine :(

Thankfully i intend on putting blocks on both so I'm not to bothered by it at the moment, but my god it was loud:eek:

Geez enough already about this EEEEEEEEEEEE whine, yes we all know it exists (unless you live under a rock or have had your head in the sand too long) but do you really have to keep repeating the same thing over and over?

I’m sick of it I tell you :D :D

Really does amaze me how everyone and their granny suddenly had this need of hdmi 2.0 when fury didn't support it. Funny how that works. Must have been a mass run of sales on hdmi 2.0 monitors or something i missed.....

Possibly due to there being more 4K TVs than 4k monitors in the wild. (at a guess) These new cards have become just about powerful enough for decent gaming at 4k with a single GPU. Stands to reason hdmi 2.0 has become a more prominent requirement.

With my boy just getting into pc gaming I would like a SFF pc we can both use hooked upto my 4K TV.

Granted some keep bringing it up just to bash AMD with though.

Here is how an owners thread should go, Skylake is absolutely pointless yet still there is no derailing or fanboys making snide remarks, just discussion of OCing and benching:

Mods need to disallow mmj et al from posting in this thread.

Yes but this thread would only be 2 pages long. Talking about the fury x good or bad is good for amd ( if they read this forum ).

I completely agree. I just dont get it either. The hypocracy is also annoying beyond belief. Them little green monsters come over here and have a right old whinge about AMD for their "poor" drivers and support.....Pop into the Nvidia Drivers thread and take a look....they have been having nightmares with their drivers over the last few months.....Not one of them had the decency to pop into this thread to tell us, did they. ;)

Funnily enough it doesnt seem to work the other way around. I havent seen anyone from over here going over there and bashing their cards or drivers etc..

Please people, go get a life or at least be more constructive with your comments. Negativity just gets us nowhere fast as can be seen from this thread and a few others.

Thank You
:D
