The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I completely agree. I just dont get it either. The hypocracy is also annoying beyond belief. Them little green monsters come over here and have a right old whinge about AMD for their "poor" drivers and support.....Pop into the Nvidia Drivers thread and take a look....they have been having nightmares with their drivers over the last few months.....Not one of them had the decency to pop into this thread to tell us, did they. ;)

Funnily enough it doesnt seem to work the other way around. I havent seen anyone from over here going over there and bashing their cards or drivers etc..

Please people, go get a life or at least be more constructive with your comments. Negativity just gets us nowhere fast as can be seen from this thread and a few others.

Thank You
:D

Had a nightmare the other day trying to update drivers on my TX, kept failing over and over, all I wanted to do was game. Never had a problem with my 7950 or 290s. AMD drivers have been objectively better or equal than NV for a while now but they gleefully keep spouting the same old FUD.

But this thread is different Rroff, It's an Owners thread, we all know it's been a crappy launch from AMD, there's bugger all stock and this pump whine issue needs sorting asap.

I'm grateful to the "OWNERS" that have shared their experiences, good and bad, what I'm not grateful for is the billion other forum members repeating these issues over and over again, when they neither own, or have owned a Fury X.

I don't go into the 980TI Owners thread and constantly go on about it's poor scaling in SLI or how the latest drivers haven't been that great, i wouldn't do that, It's an owners thread, I'd expect people posting in it to be aware of the issues.

Maybe I'm being naive, but i thought an OWNERS thread is somewhere owners can share experiences, advice and tips etc.

I can't for the life of me understand why some people are so blinded by a brand that they feel the need to post negative crap constantly or talk about them with such venom/passion.

I don't give a crap about AMD nor do i give a crap about NVIDIA, why should i? they don't care for me, or even know i exist, all we are to these companies is another sale of a gpu so for anyone to look upon them any other way is imo totally ridiculous.

Anyway i've rambled on enough, back to the topic at hand, after a mammoth gaming session on the Witcher 3 last night i noticed i could hear one of my cards making that "EEEEEEEEEEEEEE" whine :(

Thankfully i intend on putting blocks on both so I'm not to bothered by it at the moment, but my god it was loud:eek:

That was the owners thread near enough "end users review" - I'm not saying its right but its always happened both ways around so its expecting a bit much for this one to be any different :P

If the 980ti has poor SLI scaling (no idea on that one) and/or driver issues I'd expect that to be mentioned in the owners threads not just a circle jerk of purchase justification, etc. none the least so people thinking about it as a possible purchase don't buy under false pretences that a problem doesn't exist.

Here is how an owners thread should go, Skylake is absolutely pointless yet still there is no derailing or fanboys making snide remarks, just discussion of OCing and benching:

Mods need to disallow mmj et al from posting in this thread.

If you do that you have to disallow all non owners and this thread would just be 20 pages of talking about pump noise and RMA processes with the AMD staff doing a bit of promotion inbetween, non owners have added a lot to this thread both positive and negative. You can't just cherry pick the positive and expunge the negative, potential owners deserve to see both sides of the coin before paying the best part of £600.

The difference between this thread and the Skylake one is that there's not much to criticise with Skylake, the X99 threads were a different matter with ALXAndy criticising every single thread going for months on end even though he today owns one. It works both ways it just happens that AMD make themselves an easy target for criticism these days, whilst their competitors are doing the majority of things right.

I have no problem with people posting about their experiences with Fury X, and this one is different like i mentioned Rroff, you only have to look in the thread to see that!

As in the 980Ti thread is full of user info, experiences etc, where as this 99% Horse **** from people that don't even own the damn card and are just reiterating the same crap over and over again.

I'm done anyway, seems the mods don't give a rats arse anymore.

It is only slightly lower clocked than the other Fury implementation by 40MHZ and is massively ahead in performance/watt:

Its down to the custom PCB used by the Asus card, whereas the other cards use the reference ones.

It is the only custom PCB Fury card available currently.

Loads of sites have commented on the Asus card being the most efficient of all of them.

It makes me wonder what a Fury X with a custom PCB and a decent air cooler would do. Not having a water cooler would also save power over using an AIO water cooler.

Whilst the Asus fury 3584uses a custom pcb and voltage reg, most of the performance/watt gains come down to the reg and the bios and voltage used in comparison to the Sapphire ref fury 3584 pcb. The sapphire also has two different bioses for their 2 models and each model's bios #2 has a higher power limit and temp limit.
The Asus runs 1.17v the sapphire runs at 1.19 or for the 1040 oc version it is 1.21v. I imagine with vdroop it's more like 1.20Vp for the asus and 1.25Vp for the saph.

Back to Andy's comment and he is absolutely right, if you enable the disabled shaders and put the clocks up to stock fury x levels on either 3584 pcb's then you will be getting close to the thermal limit headroom and power consumption will increase to fury x levels and beyond. You only have to look at the thermal images of both Fury 3584's vrms in gaming to see that temperatures are getting a little high for comfort 1.21v vrm temp 98c. Can you imagine the temps of the vrms on a 4096 shader at the same voltage using the air cooler. It basically would be on the limit at 1050mhz and it's headroom would be 1100mhz at a push, so it's no wonder the 4096 came with an aio cooler.

Probably not the best example to use lol

If I posted in that thread about the short comings of DDR4 it would explode as Dave2150 hates me.:D

Having said that people should try and keep the owners threads on topic.:)

Not sure what is more annoying, the constant whining from people to stay on topic or the people off topic. Actually, I do and it is the whining that wins the most annoying. I guess the amount of off topic is down to the lack of owners. You can see from the first post that there aren't that many owners here and the thread would be 2 pages max if only owners posted.

Can you keep this off topic talk out of the Fury X thread.

;)

So you are saying that I can crash any nvidia thread by just adding this theoretical line saying, that I am looking forward to next nvidia GPU, so it will be OK for me to talk nonsense for the rest of the thread?
We have a few people here saying that hey they have fury x on order, yet even when shops have stock, their order is still not fulfilled. How come? How much did pre order cost? I remember 1st day they offered £509 fury x cards (sapphire, I think), but then shops got some £539, £549 fury xs. So are we saying that this extra 30 quid will starve those people? Even now there is one powercolor fury x for £539 in stock. People who really want them, would buy for this price. People who pretend they want to buy fury x, just pretend.
