As Matt said, if it's a decent one it'll be fine (I'm sure mine still has a little room even though I run 2 heavily clocked Ti's and a decently clocked cpu ;))

I ran 2500k @ 4.8 with a pair of X's on a tx850m and I *think* I was ok, I only had one crash over the course of a week running them that I thought could be PSU.. But I wanted some headroom for overclocking so to be safe I picked up a new PSU (Superflower 1300w Gold) so I'm golden now..

TLDR; 850w was mostly ample, so 1kw should be just fine :)
 
I've gone for it and ordered a fury x to replace my 970, praying that it won't be a whiner ! Since i've seen that club3d have officially annouced a dp to hdmi 2.0 adapter I thought yep I get one.

I'd have gone Pro personally as there's *still* some whining cards out there. But it's your choice :)

Still thinking about getting a second Fury X for crossfire, but I'm not sure how well 2 x 240 rads (EK PE240) would handle it.

I was just thinking the same. Scanning around other forums for possible eta's and all I'm finding is nothing. The same old posts from June/July either saying it's locked (which obviously isn't true but that's what was going around in June) or that Wizzard has managed it and apparently isn't sharing (this was like 25th July he cracked it?)
 
I think i'm fed up of waiting for unlocked voltage now! AMD promised on a overclockers dream! Well that's all we have done so far is dream about overclocking the card! I was hoping to see how well these overclock and what performance you got. But i'm fed up of waiting now. A hybrid 980Ti is calling me too much!
 
It's disappointing for sure, I love my fury xs, but so far the "overclockers dream" is a load of horse **** thus far.

Amdmatt or joe able to clarify what was actually meant with the above statement?

The engineer who said that at the conference meant just that, An overclockers dream, Sadly we still haven't got voltage control which is just a joke which means the most we can get out of these is around 100MHZ which is not "An overclockers dream".

Indeed, i just hope the voltage gets unlocked asap, been running mine at stock as they are ample but wouldn't mind unleashing the "Fury".

Most i can do with both cards is 1110/500.
 
I think that at the time of that phrase they weren't going to clock the gpu at 1050mhz in order to give them headroom, but the competition made them clock up their chips... that's the only logical explanation imo, that or that engineer knew nothing about the fiji chips (maybe only worked on grenada) and was chosen for his over average public speaking skills, and was told to say that coz it would sound good at the time.
