The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

If you remove Project Cars, Wow and CoD from that set of benches, you'd see very different graphs there. If you're going to try to claim statistics back you up, then you should be removing enormously anomalus results.

Yes, but how less valid are fans of those games than other games? We need a good spread of genres/games and that review has done its best to provide such...

I'll likely be back on Nvidia soon as Pascal GP200 comes out. Got a feeling it's going to be an absolute monster.

Good luck with the wait. First you'll see pipecleaner Maxwell, then enthusiast Maxwell, then a very long time after that consumer versions of GP200 (all of them will go into Tesla cards to begin with).

You'll be very lucky to see non-Tesla GP200 in '16.

Edit: Also, wouldn't that be GP300?

There's a good spread of games and genres without them. As we know, PCars is completely gimped, WoW's engine uses weird legacy DX (and old NVIDIA shaders) is fully single threaded and just won't work properly on AMD, couldn't claim to know why performance is so dire on CoD (but again it seems like a hugely glaring anomaly given the fine performance in other FPS games and engines). If you want to test them in a review, fine, but including them in a mean performance index is completely disingenuous.

Big Pascal will come likely early in 2016, under the Titan moniker. Probably about 8 months+ away.

It will be a monster !!!

18 months would suit me, I have a feeling a well-clocked 980Ti will run games pretty much maxed out at 1440p til then  :)

Doesn't really matter tbh, they're popular games and I know peeps who play all 3 hence my statement being pretty valid (imo of course). You can't just pick and choose what you want benchmarked, that would be besides the point!!

I'm expecting Pascal Titan in Feb/March 2016.

Nvidia are going to come out strong with the Titan imho. I think we may possibly see a Maxwell re-spin on a die shrink before then or a small test Pascal card like when the 750 Ti came really early. But the big daddy early 2016.

Looking at the pic of the fiji die its hard to believe that with each memory chip that's visible there's a stack of 3 other ram chips and a logic die connecting them to the interposer underneath. You'd literally think it was just 4 ram chips and nothing more.

They are thinner than a human hair.

Actually that's a 10% gain from a bit of driver tweaking. Add 10% onto the guru 3dmark scores at stock and it would beat 980ti/Titan X in all Firestrike benchmarks. If it overclocks well with voltage then it could well top the Bench threads. It's to soon to say but a 10% gain to Fury in gaming performance would put Fury X around where most wanted it.

One things for sure this gain needs to be shown in the Fury pro review if indeed Amd can produce it.

Somehow can't see it going from 17K all the way passed 21K with a newer driver and a little overclock, Could be wrong though.

Still getting one when they come back into stock though :)

Either he lies, you lie, or he's misinformed.

It was the #3 best selling card on Amazon.com alone ... and the only high selling expensive card (the others were mostly 970s). 700 for the whole of north america wouldn't even dent the sales chart.

Why the hell would I lie ? Use your common sense.

Even Linus who works for NCIX who also can look at sales figures said there were in the region of 1000 sold in north america and then stock dried up.

Isn't pascal supposed to have 16GB HBM? It will be next year before 8GB HBM is available in quantity and you expect pascal early 2016? Not gonna happen unless Nvidia use some alternative memory or settle for 8GB. And if 8GB is coming soon then I'm sure AMD will announce something that uses it within the next 3-6 months.

Yea that's going to be tough. Clocks of around 1350 core should see it in the Ballpark. It's not impossible but it's asking a lot.
