The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I having a little doubt about buying this GPU now.. They is videos on Youtube showing a loud Coil Whine! AMDMATT said one his also has it.. I hear pump noise was fixed for release.. Is coil whine something that when these GPU hit the market can be sorted out?

How do OCUK treat GPUs with Coil whine you ok to return based on whine alone? I would be willing to buy one if that was the case I could test myself then.

So far I have been very lucky to never owned a GPU with whine but based on videos I have seen with whine it isn't something I would ever want in my system.

Its a real shame this the only thing stopping me from buying when they in stock. here hoping its just early batch problems.

Boom, Kapp does your GPUs have any these noise issues? if not what GPUs did you get. XFX etc

The top video definitely is the pump, the second video seems to be a bit of coil buzzing but its pretty tame compared to the pump whine. If it ends up being the pump i can;t see how they would refuse a replacement as amd themselves have stated its an issue that was supposed to have been fixed.

I said one out of four of my cards has slight (and i mean slight) coil whine when it sits on a menu screen with 3000 fps. Once playing games, it's silent. Don't be put off by the odd horror story. :)

Matt, Alien Isolation is going downwards when adding more GPUs ;)

Not in average fps. ;)

The question has to be asked though, AMD stated this ONLY affected review units and it was sorted for retail. Seems its cropping up in a few vids on youtube. If anything it seems to me that it was fixed after the initial batch of units were sent out be it to retailers and reviewers, some reviewers only got the card on the saturday before the release date and reported the issue to amd.

If thats the case its a bit of a crap situation as i can't imagine how something that high pitched and obvious managed to somehow "sneak past" testers.

I've one coming this week and one hopefully at the end of the week, fingers crossed they don't have it.

In the forst video, that's not coil whine, you know when you have coil whine. That will be the pump (AMD confirmed a problem with the initial batch that they say was identified and sorted resolved for later runs).

Never had an AIO but from many years watercooling the pump will never be fully silent, least never has been for me but that does seem noisy. Could be an unbalanced impeller, air, orientation (hard to tell with the phone dancing about an inch from the GPU but looks vertical?)

Yeah I did say one :p I going to ask customer support see what they say about RMA on coil whine.

What GPU is the manufacture?

That guy doesn't sit right with me, the noise he recorded is barely audible, others have said this and he said they were death or had bad speakers.

I'm not death and my speakers are amplified Logitek, i turned then up loud to here the noise he said it was making, so loud there was just as much static cumming through the speakers.

He also ran it against a 980TI at 1400Mhz and only conceded that after people questioned his results.

Can't really say, as its not been out a week yet, the 980 Ti has been out over a month now, and thats still got quite a few saying pre-order, so surely, we should give the Fury the same amount of time before saying its as rare as rocky horse ****.

I could go and get one tomorrow if i wanted (as i know where there is some, just have to pay a bit extra than for my pre-ordered), but im wanting to get the Benq freesync monitor first, and if its not a v2, im going to have to sort the firmware update, so if i did get a Fury now, id be stuck on 60Hz till i got that sorted, and no way am i doing that, as i couldn't go back to 60Hz, not even for 5 minutes, so im waiting :D

are we ignoring minimum frame rates now? It is our product, isn't it, I would guess you would want to investigate why your cards scale downwards in minimum FPS in your supported game. After all when playing game we don't care about average fps, we definitely do not care about maximum fps, but what impact the gaming experience the most is minimum fps.
Or am I talking this out of my ass?
I have 2 fury x on order from sapphire incoming sometime this year, and it pains me seeing numbers like that and people just brushing it off as if it is just normal.
