Would there be a vote?

Would lol if it was a yes, and then Salmond got booted out :D

Of course there would. Unfortunately the vote did end up being one of party politics rather than what is best for the country. However, a vote for yes isn't necessarily a vote for the SNP. Hell, I voted no and if it is a no result I'd be half tempted to vote for the SNP at the next election based on previous manifestos (once all the silly independence stuff has been removed).

What happens to stamps, who will administer driving licences for an independent Scotland, there is a huge list of stuff Alex Salmond will have to address.

How will it all be funded?

Don't they have a year to put together a proposal?

Doesn't sound like a lot of time to work out how to run a country.

But how many idiots has he swayed by appearing on the front page of idiot newspapers with his Olympic gold medal? I'm not calling YES voters idiots, but changing your vote at the last minute because you were swayed by the NEGATIVITY of the NO campaign. As if the NO campaign was ever going to come across as positive?

Imagine someone announces to his friends "I'm going to bet all of my money on this horse. What do you think?"

Rational person: "That's a really bad idea. Have you considered the consequences?"

Idiot friend (with gold medal): "OMG you are so negative, you should totally do that, imagine what you could do with the money when it wins"

Simplistic analogy, yes, but it has to be dumbed down when dealing with blind patriotism.

really, so what?

The overwhelming majority of people vote for idiotic reasons anyway, might as well add another one into the mix. Do you really think 90% of people actually read party manifestos, compare with other parties and make a reasoned decisions that would hold up intense debate?

'My dad always voted Tory'
'The Sun said I should vote Labour'

Technically the North would earn a lot less to achieve this.

But the manufacturing industry would get back on its feet... Even if it ends up like eastern europe...

Just to point out that even parts of the South East - mainly the coastal towns and cities - get left behind thanks to the British establishment's obsession with London. E.g. look at the state of the A27, the main road from Brighton to Portsmouth, it's a disgrace.

Wouldn't really call Portsmouth South east, although I guess it is the home counties. I was thinking more like the commuter towns around London and greater London itself. :p
