The GPU Folding Thread... X1900 owners in here.

This is the place to keep an eye on.

I'm very dissapointed. Not only is it buggy as hell, the ppd is less than many of the cpus it has to rob rendering it a step backwards in terms of output.

I think it is using my 1900XTX, as even though I set it to 90% cpu (read: gpu) usage, my system is quite graphically laggy now

I'll see if it settles.. else it's no good.

I suppose it is a bit of an experiment so you just have to try things until you're happy with it.
You could try lowering the gpu utilisation a bit more and see if that helps.
It occurs to me that Vista might be a spanner in the works for this, as it will be using the gpu all the time for rendering its fancy(read: pointless) effects.

Can you install rivatuner please? I want to know your temps, clocks, voltages and amps.

Cheers.

Edit: Its working!!!

I had to set usage to LOW not IDLE!!

Had this running for the last 10 minutes with the same config as Concorde - so far its at "Completed 0".

Will consider something has gone wrong if it doesn't get to step 1 very soon. Also concerned by the absolute lack of temperature increase and the fact I have lost a whole core to this thing lol.

Everyone thats haveing problems do this:

Delete all the current work files and the client config.

Start the client itself to set all the settings again - DO NOT RUN IT AS A SERVICE!!! (this might be the problem)

YOu want workunits above 5mb as a yes.

Adv settings you want CPU usage to low and the next option to 100.

Machine ID ive got as three because I have three clients.

Job done.

W00t it is working!

I turned off the service earlier but when I saw concordes post I looked again and it was still there . Went into the registry and nuked it myself. Working away now like a little trooper :D

Temp has gone up 10C tho. Not too much of a concern - Zalman is in slow-spin mode and I also have reason to believe my Zalman is either not mounted properly or is faulty as the temps should be quite a bit lower.

Will get around to remouting it one of these days lol

Now you have it working, is it still using 100% of a CPU core to monitor the GPU core or whatever it's doing?

Or is it using 100% of the GPU and 100% of a CPU core because it's detected that the CPU core is not doing anything?

Therefore if you ran a GPU client and 2 CPU clients would it work at 100% of GPU and would the two CPU clients use 90% or so of each core leavng a little free for the GPU monitoring?
