Good episode I thought, enjoyed it.

Kinda stating the obvious, but I'm assuming Hammond wasn't actually in the car as it rolled down the mountain side...

the EP9 was cool though I kept thinking Honda everytime I heard that name.

Was I the only one that thought E-penis?

Is the lip syncing awful on this for everyone?

I find Amazon generally aren't as good at sound sync as someone like Netflix...

There's actually a NIO showroom just down the road from me

Told ya :)

Brilliant episode that last one. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

That city looked crazy/impressive. However i would absolutely hate to live somewhere like that.

Yeah, they're overall kind of garbage. Their video encoding is terrible for blacks too. Netflix just plain looks and sounds better, as well as having a better UI on smart TVs. But even given overall Amazon Prime rubbishness, Grand Tour seems particularly bad.

I find the 4k version is pretty bad on the inbuilt app on my samsung tv. The motion is quite juddery and lip sync does go out. Normal HD works fine though and the PQ is honestly not much different.

I find the opposite here on my LG. 4K is noticeably better, where as the HD picture is slightly cloudy. None of the issues you mention for SD, HD or 4K though.

Some good bits and some bad in this series so far. Rather decent as a whole. Really looking forward to the next one. :D

Tbh I half expected him to be driving it at the end lol.

What's it like live? Is it just half a day of shooting mixed in with some off camera chatter?

It was pretty cool. They actually film two episodes per day (well I guess - did). It seemed a few people were invited for just the afternoon so a few extras turned up in the afternoon. Day started with some free breakfast, refreshments and an hour or so hanging around in the entrance tent. Eventually we went on through into the GT tent and the shows started. They actually filmed an introduction to a special first before Episode 7. I forget which special - maybe they canned that particular intro as we weren't there in the Columbia special entrance. As for the episode filming we watched every film shown in the episode too while the trio just sat looking fairly bored / playing with phones / e-cigarettes. It's a long time really to be standing but they do make this clear in the pre-event communications and questions. It wasn't helped by that day being particularly freezing with a little snow outside.

After first episode we went back into the comms tent for lunch and what turned out to be a 2.5 hour break before the filming the next episode. Apparently during this period they practice and rehearse. Lunch was a standard affair of sandwiches and some hot soup, not too shabby but I would have preferred a hot steak... During this break we did have a Q&A with Andy Wilman but no interaction with the trio besides during filming. As we left we were given a goody bag with a bottle opener, a keyring that said "Not a bottle opener" and a phone popsocket (some weird phone grip thing).

I enjoyed the day but not sure I'd go out my way to visit again. Been there done that feeling :)
Some people had travelled 5-6 hours that morning to get there for 9am! I drove 2 hours the night before and stayed in an airbnb 20 mins away.

Scotland always looks breathtaking no matter the show, honestly surprised they didn't go to the place the infamous Skyfall scene was taken as that seems to be a hot spot for photos and videos.

Hmmm..... they usually do a good job(ish) of keeping the support vehicles and disruption out of shot when they're out and about.

This 300 meters of dead stood still traffic while they fanny about in a lay-by.... not so much :D
