That because although they may be technically a better car, the 205 gti will always go down as one of the best hot hatches ever. The 306 is not even in the same discussion. Good car just not as desirable.

You're right. Ultimately it was the 205, the 309 and the 405 that saved Peugeot back when it was almost toast. The Peugeot 405 Mi16 was a beast, more so the very rare 405 T16. And the 205 T16 rally car which saw massive success.

I had 2x 205 GTi, a 1.6 and a 1.9, then had an Mi16 conversion and loved them, but IMO the GTi-6 was the car the 205 should have been.

My mums partner had an MI-16 back in the day. Best of both worlds would be an MI-16 lump in a 205 Gti shell. Not many of them were about.

The 306 is just an evolution. Like imo the Mk2 golf is a better car than the Mk1. Mk1 is still cooler though.

One of the worst specials they’ve done.

The best bit was the 5 mins showing the fan car and May trying to get the fridge in the boot.

After 20 minutes of them trying to make funny content out of bashing each other driving up a hill, I was was so bored I switched it off. I've never done that before.

Similar with the Ford Escort RS Turbo, the Series 1 is no where near as nice to drive as the Series 2 and arguably less reliable yet they command a considerable premium over the later car, owned one of each back in the day and the later car was a superior car in every respect yet they are still - almost - affordable whereas the S1 cars are just stupid money.

Anyway, back on topic, well, that was crap. :/

Agree it was rubbish. The French production assistant was rather lovely though.

It felt like nobody reined in some of Clarkson’s worst indulgences so some sections ran on too long or the “joke” was stretched too far.

I wish someone would have actually hit Hammond when they did the roundabout bit.

This 'special' felt like the result of Clarkson saying "Remember that Peugeot driver joke we did years ago - lets do that but for an hour!"

Normally I wouldn’t be bothered but the length of time getting longer and longer between these specials, I’m not sure the wait is worth it.

This felt more like a segment from one of the older seasons… just stretched over a full episode :(

So my parents have come round today and I've popped this episode on for them because they love France and they haven't stopped laughing haha :D

Maybe it's aimed at old, non-car people?
