In terms of being a household name he didn’t exist beforehand, he became a household name off the back of Topgear of which Clarkson was the frontman. No Topgear, no James May cars of the people ect.
That doesn't work for me as James was well known for Top Gear before Clarkson got involved in Topgear. James helped make Clarkson. Not the other way around.

It seems rather ridiculous to assume that May would have achieved nothing in this alternative world where old-new-Top Gear didn't exist. Especially given he was already successful as a motoring journalist, had been on TV, and was clearly ambitious.

Didn’t say nothing but relatively speaking much less, in the same way Brian May would have done much less without Queen, such was the levels of success they achieved. Many a motoring journalist exists unknown to the general public, in the same way many talented musicians do to.

Clarkson wrote a column about how he viscerally hates Meghan, why on Earth would Harry and Meghan accept an apology about that? If someone wrote a newspaper column about how much they hated your wife and wanted to see her publicly humiliated would you accept an apology saying they worded their statement of hatred poorly? Come on.

Well you don't know me, I can easily forgive people for words.
My bully in adult life ended up apologising to me after about 5 years and he became my best friend.
They probably thought Clarkson wasn't being sincere which he probably wasn't.

I think that's fair, but all 3 of them needed each other or the show didn't work really. GT has mostly been stale boring rubbish since it started though, they never rekindled the old magic for some reason and Clarkson and May are doing better sideshows. Hammond tried but is actually a rather poor presenter as his solo stuff has shown.

Agreed they together achieved a synergy that clearly resonated with the general public. Different personalities that gelled well together but as with everything in life some people prefer some personality traits than others.

Say what? Clarkson was involved in Top Gear in 1988. May...2003. He wasn't even the first choice for the reboot which started in 2002...which was Clarkson, Hammond and Dawe....

Clarkson was the lynchpin the other 2 were there to compliment him. Both Hammond and May could’ve been replaced, Clarkson not so easily.

Why do people care so much about this.

He had a dig at someone who is clearly a social climber, has climbed to the top, but is now having a strop because she isn't allowed to market a brand she doesn't own. Because they slated and abandonned it after a her previous strop.

I guess that was before my time, I wasn't aware Clarkson was involved in 1988 that was well before I know off him. Though it doesn't go against my point. James was a household name before he teamed up with Clarkson and would still be a house hold name without Clarkson as proven by James's standalone shows both before and after he teamed up with Clarkson. They helped each other a lot but Clarkson didn't make James. If anything Hammond is the weak link if that's even the right word. Hammond works with the group but as far as I can see his standalone work is terrible unlike James who works very well by himself. Anyway both Clarkson and James should retire soon, more James with his health problems which are really starting to show when he presents.

What health issues Googleing suggests its him getting old and nothing more

Just because Amazon have pulled it doesn't mean some other network wont have them do something if they were planning carrying on.

That would probably depend on who owns the rights to the grand tour. iirc on its launch there was already a load of grey areas, and Amazon's legal team had to go through the footage with a fine tooth comb to ensure it didn't infringe on any sort of copyright claim the BBC had on top gear.

I suppose it's possible they could sell the rights, but Amazon paid a pretty fortune for the trio. They may also get hit hard with loss of revenue from streams so might only sell it high to recuperate any losses. Who knows ...
