The Grand Tour

They have indeed come a long way. My first visit was in 1991 where you either had no car or had a fiat 126p. Now it is pretty much like England minus the road network which is just absolutely terrible and the cars are slightly older. 90's Vectra's and Astra's.

Wages are still crap though as a lot of businesses are importing cheap labour from Ukraine or former Soviet blocks.

Great place to retire to as my mother has done but horrible if you want to work there. Opportunities are nowhere as good as here for money. She also has no chance of ever selling her house as no one has the money to buy it.

Poland has a huge worker shortage as so many men went to work abroad. They have been trying to encourage them back for years.

Some of the cities in eastern Europe are really nice though and the countryside hasn't been ruined like in the UK.

I enjoyed it but it seemed a bit off to split the trio up like that. Lost a bit of the dynamic for me.

With my conspiracy hat on I could almost think there was a scheduling clash for May and they used it as a way of splitting up the filming schedules with just a few odd scenes where they needed to be in the same place at the same time.

I wasn't that impressed if I am honest - I did watch it half distracted though to be honest.

I think you might be right, it seemed very oddly constructed with clearly out of timeline scenes. A shame really. What is May working on?

Might have been his cooking show (Oh, Cook!), latest season was released in May, so I'm guessing it could have been filmed around the same time?
Mind you, that's just him stood in the same kitchen every episode, don't suppose it would have been too difficult to schedule.

Fairly sure this was filmed June/July last year :)

Ironically just came back from Lake Bled just over a week ago, lovely place :D

It’s fizzling out. It still provides entertainment but they are just too old now and the format has been almost the same since the trio got together.

May on his own is just boring though and lacks the charisma that the others provide. It’s the end of an era, shame but life goes on.

Disagree with this, personally. Perhaps it's more the fourth wall breaking style of the shows, but I've found both Our Man In.... and Oh, Cook! genuinely entertaining and funny. And I couldn't give a toss about cooking in general.

Each to their own I guess. I’ve nothing against him and I love the chemistry between the three, but I prefer the other two more. Just personal preference.

I remember when they were proper car journalists....... i preferred those times myself and indeed the following episode sold me on my 1st ever performance car some 9 years later.
(you can definitely see the seeds of the modern topgear however - yes this is grandtour but really, its the same show imo)

On their own, May is the better out of the three, I enjoyed clarksons farm to be fair, but all of Mays shows have been brilliant. Hammond is the weakest out of the three. The problem is they portray the shows as reality shows but they are very obviously scripted.
