Watched it last night, first 1:30mins was funnier than the entire last season of new top gear.

Can't wait for the next episode.

If you want a laugh pop over to the guardians comment section bunch of SJW throwing their toys out of the pram...

To be fair, Mike Skinner is an ex NASCAR champion and a lot more well known than even an F1 driver in the US, which is where most Prime subscribers are located.

Fair point, still in old topgear mode without considering broadcasting on Amazon brings a much more international audience.

Watching this via Prime at the moment... Has anyone else found that the audio keeps getting really out of sync with the video? It's annoying :( Never had this issue with anything else on Amazon Prime.

I didn't notice this on my Fire TV box (latest 4k one but on a 1080p HD TV) and it's something that would really have bugged me! What are you watching on?

Different tyres as well, IIRC

Both tests were done on the standard tyres. Chris did an extra outing on the optional track tyres just for the sake of it but official timing was done using the same control tyres. They were both filmed on the same weekend so it's safe to assume this was done for Top Gear too, and Jeremy stated they were all on the same tyre.

Watched it earlier today and very much enjoyed it.

I think, or rather hope it'll go from strength to strength and slowly over time put the final nails into the Top Gear coffin. Heck, the opening of the show alone wiped the floor of the current Chris Evans Top Gear offerings.

Very much looking forward to the next few episodes to see how they go.

I felt the same. Hoping Ep2 is better:)

You're an absolutely misery though.

I really enjoyed it with some genuine laugh out loud moments and all filmed really well. Those hypercars have been done to death though, really looking forward to future challenge episodes.

I cannot argue this:p but I have experienced many laugh out loud TG moments. Last night's episode barely raised a smile. Like I said, hope ep2 is less cringe, less trying too hard and more funny:)

i wonder if we still get the specials like we used to, normally it would be 2 special a year?

The daft caravan or motability scooter type challenges did nothing for me, but the specials and the 'car' challenges were absolute class.Im hoping for more of that.

I honestly think this show will mark a pivotal point in television where the licence fee will become an irrelevance and shows will be produced off the back of large netcasters. Yes shows before have started this trend already, but the GT is going to elevate it to prominence.

Slightly disturbed by the loud female cheers from the audience (6m45s mark) at the suggestion of Clarkson pleasuring a horse though I must say. Americans slightly weird??

Pandering to American audiences. The studio bits were embarrassing, and the car bits have been done a thousand times before. Same old Top Gear crap, in 4K.

But they were in America

Next week is South Africa, if they pander to American audiences then, fair point.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show :D

Don't forget Amazon are an American company and top gear is massive over there so it wouldn't be surprising if they do pander slightly. They're not being paid/produced for by the UK anymore.

It took a while but I've been through this thread and took out all the things different people didn't like.
All I've got left is the intro and outro.

The Jeremy Renner bit was good, but they shoulda stopped there. 2 more was just a bit cringy.

I actually skipped a couple of minutes after they did the carol vorderman part. One yes, funny, 2, maybe, 3 absolutely not.

Generally enjoyed it though :) better than being screamed at by that ****head Chris evans

Really enjoyed the show to be honest. Yes one or two "meh" issues (the celeb bit / tent bits) but in general it was a fun hour. Car related entertainment at it's best.

Probably the first time I'm looking at ditching the TV license and going solely Amazon and Netflix

Agree with this, especially when you consider the budgets that these programs now get.

A rumored budget of £160 million for the 36 episodes, then there's others such as The Crown with its £100 million.

Really not sure what the Beeb can possibly do to compete with netcasters  There must be some rather puzzled and worried management at Broadcasting House.

I had this too :( have never experienced it before either :(
