The camera work, is outstanding and pretty much the reason I watch it.

The Raf/audience fight was cringe. Although I liked what they were trying to do with the celebrity bit, it was quite awful.

Overall, pretty awesome. Mates dicking about in cars, what more do you want.

Agree with the above.

What I think let it down for me was that the "Holy Trinity" boat sailed a long time ago, so seemed a bit dull, plus Chris Harris did a better job IMO. I'm sure the fresh content in the next episode will be much better.

Works out more expensive than before though

I'll happily pay for quality produced TV...

I'm not so keen paying for strictly mincing on ice and 99% the BBC produces in order to tick equality and and diversity boxes...

Citizen Khan is dross along with countless other BBC TV shows...

When the Beeb do it well they do it amazing though...No one can argue that BBC production value of the last series ( no ginger) was easily on par with Amazon Prime at a cost of 4million per episode.

Having said that a lot of the BBC employ independent production companies etc...so the production talent is open to the highest bidder...

Do you mean Chris Evans? He did not and I think that was proven by his decision to step down ie: BBC - Chris you are letting the team down sooooooo bye?

He was cheesy, uncomfortable to watch and just a plain ass overall

No - he means this video.

The beginning of the new show had me grinning from ear to ear :D

interesting that the Formula E driver had the P1 slowest, while Chris harris had it fastest. I I seem to recall Chris Harris' video was out before this, so I suspect that's why clarkson was so confident the P1 would win. All 3 had the laferrari last though.

In the other big test - salamondarin's Hyper 5, they had the 918 first, laferrari second and P1 last (seem as the grand tour).

Wonder how chris harris was able to get the P1 fastest where the other tests had it slowest.

I would imagine tyre choice, it's all well and good using the same tyres like Top Gear did for fairness, but if those tyres suit one car better it's still not a fair comparison.

For me they should use the tyres they're specced with.

both the grand tour and chris harris had them on the same tyres.

Chris harris quoted the time with the factory supplied Trofeo R tyres and that was a 1:51 !!

Hyper 5 was done by the youtubers and friends using customer cars, meaning the P1 probably had the factory supplied tyres. So lord knows how it came last in their test !

Loads better than old top gear, no celebrity crap and no stupid challenges

Studio bits were a bit naff but not to worry

Agree on the celebrity stuff, but I always thought the challenges were some of the funniest bits (I'm thinking, cheap car challenges and the like).

Watched it twice yesterday - as soon as I got home from work, and again later in the evening when we had some friends round.

I thought it was brilliant. Enjoyed every minute of it. You just can't replicate the rapport that those three guys have, and Amazon's enormous budget really shone through with stunning audio and visuals.

Pandering to American audiences. The studio bits were embarrassing, and the car bits have been done a thousand times before. Same old Top Gear crap, in 4K.

Perhaps you'd prefer more fresh and original content, like perhaps 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here?'

I don't think Trofeo R tyres were available when Hyper 5 was done, but the series of undulating corners at Portimao seemed to have the P1 unsettled a lot of the time, whereas the other two just coped better. I bet the order would reverse on a lap of Spa, but then you could go on and on, just like their drag race. :p

I am no man. I fell asleep half way through the hyper car segment.

Was knackered before i put it on though. Will try again tonight.

I was waiting for the "It's just the same old scripted Top Gear rubbish".

Honestly what did you expect?

I didn't find it exactly grabbing, some good bits, some bits felt a bit stiff - still up there near the top of my list for watching but could easily have put it off for another day.

Chris Harris used a rolling start, Grand Tour used a standing start.
