The Great British Theft Epidemic

Its getting to that point.

I might go old school and get a black widow and some ball bearings. Aim for the head boo aim for the head.

I know it shouldn't, but these days that could get you into trouble. Just make a bottle top shooter, they're nigh on free to make, easy to conceal and can easily be destroyed after the fact.

Land Rover and Range Rover thefts and/or being stripped for parts have been a problem for a long time - the insurance on them has been crazy around where I live in rural Somerset for a few years now and the police once quipped, somewhat seriously, that if they stopped one in the area at night there was probably a 50/50 chance the person driving it wasn't supposed to be :s
No-one needs a range rover in london and the place is infested with them. Probably doing a public service!

Yep.

The Tories don't care about society now or since Thatcher. Premiums go up year on year always double inflation the peasants lose more and the insurance companies make profits that feed back into the Tory machine who cut services for fun so the premiums go up again.

I really don't get why the keyless problem is so hard to solve, someone posted about their Clio above, having the ability to deadlock with a button on the fob, and my Zoe was the same, so at least Renault (of all people ) have figured it out, why do all the other manufacturers struggle?

Our local Morrisons now has a big mobile motion activated CCTV unit plonked in the middle of the alcohol aisle
We have one of those CCTV and shouts “Will a member of staff please go down the alcohol aisle” - NOBODY is here!

There’s a lot more parcels going missing simply because there’s an increase of orders and delivery’s. The system can’t cope with the demand in festive periods.

...and people leaving them on the doorstep or by the bins all day. It's a temptation for the criminally inclined. As for keyless cars it is a solution looking for a problem.

My 1959 Triumph Thunderbird was the only keyless vehicle I have owned, you could start it with a screwdriver, so technically not keyless.

I don’t even think there’s a solution to stop a car being* (corrected because the grammar police are here) taken. A criminal will find a way to exploit something no matter how secure it is.

It’s not just about police. There’s been real terms cuts to youth services, mental health care and a million other things that reduce crime in the long-term.
You hear people suggesting that youth clubs need to return.

In my days of youth club age (‘92-‘98) the youth clubs round me were rubbish. A pool table, table tennis - that’s it! A few of my friends went to them and gave up after a couple of weeks due to the above.

Meanwhile, numbers at our Scout group have been gradually creeping up, and are now higher than before COVID...

Same for me, the old youth club you found in a school or something was crap. I did scouts after doing the younger one (cubs?) which was a lot better but its not funded by local authorities.
