So Ste your south facing bedroom is badly designed. sort it out ;)

Organise your house damnit :p

I'm sure the DC team will meet at your house to do a bit of building work (read: Demolition) to help another folder.

There's another option missing from the poll list:
"I am, but not as part of a team"

My pc runs a folding project but I've never bothered to join a team. Never seen the point really, I can still run the software without being a team member!

hehe :)

The difference in the heat coming out the back of not only the PC but also the PSU is huge though (load vs idle). Kinda like the extra heat my amp puts out when its playing loud music all day :D

Technically thats covered by number 2. "I am, for another team."

Unless you specifiy a team it automatically puts you on team Default (Team 0) (Either way acording to the stats site your part of a team.)

I know what you mean, heat output at load is massive compared to heat output at idle. I have 3 PC's and a laptop in this room at the moment. Fortunatly I have an 8000BTU A/C unit which can just about cope and keep temps at 25°C this hot weather. However I must not turn it off for more than 2 minutes else this room is a serious fire hazard.

Is there a stealth client and queue thing that I could install on my work LAN? I've got about 13 pentiums here doing nothing more than sending email and browsing itv.com and I'd be happy to get them crunching for the cause.

The Command Line client runs as a service even when windows is not logged in.

However you will still be able to see the process in the task manager using 100% of the CPU.

It can be set to queue up 10 deadlineless WU's at once.

Just don't get in trouble putting it on the machines, ask whoevers in charge first.

Oh and consider the extra heatoutput. :)

For more info see the Sticky in the DC forum (link to DC forum: Slackers Inc.)

OK that sounds like it could work, our users aren't very clued up on things like 'Task Manager' and 'Computers' so that's fine.

All the PCs are generic black boxes that you can only buy online so the heat should be fine, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Cool.

If you need any help with anything thats not covered in the sticky, then make a thread in the DC section of the forum.

Are all the black boxes the same spec, if so you got any idea what the spec is?

With 13 of anything you should fly up the ranks quickly :)

And lol, gotta love those computer "users" who aren't very clued up on computers

5. I can't be bothered.
-If you can find time to browse this forum surely you can find 5 minutes to start folding.

Not really i have much better things to do with my time and browsing ocuk only takes up a small part of my day, which is usually during the day

Hmmm looks like the poll is pretty conclusive...most people cant be bothered to run it:p

The specs are OK but nothing world beating, they range from Celery 2.4 to P4 2.8, am I right on thinking that RAM is irrelevant? I'll add up exactly what I have as I install.

Would your world collapse if you used some of that small amount of time you use to browse OcUK to install F@H?

If you really don't want to do it then that's fine. :)

Simply because it costs me more in electricity bills to run a client.

This was proved to myself, when I stopped running United Devices, and my bill dropped by an average of £1/week.
Would you think of it in the same way if i was asking you to donate £52 per year to a medical reaserch charity such as Cancer Reaserch?

For all those saying they can't be bothered, please remember what this really is, its helping to find cures for diseases.

I have written a Quick and Easy guide to folding at home which makes it extremely easy to set up and takes literally 5 minutes to do.
Surely its worth the bother? The guide is here.

Thanks for voting everyone, and thanks for joining to those who have.

If you have more RAM going spare then the better, but it isn't a major concern unless you end up with a pretty big WU. You can lower the amount of RAM the client uses in case there is a shortage of RAM :)
