The Great Preseason Thread

It’s encouraging that it look like the team Edu and Arteta have been working towards the past couple of seasons is taking shape. Like last year the big signings are dropping straight into the team and looking comfortable off the bat, and the squad is starting to get deeper vs just having a good first XI, which was our downfall last season. Feels like we’re going in the right direction and a solid summer window’s work. Just need to finish clearing out the last of the deadwood.

Still not going to be at the level of the top 2 obviously but should be good to do better than last time round.

Jesus is looking confident and is probably enjoying being the main man at Arsenal vs a bit of a cog in the machine at City.

Think that this season could be a cracker if all the big teams show up.

Still fancy Chelsea to be a bit off the pace and I have no idea how Tottenham will do. Spent big so have to deliver something.

Just need to replace xhaka with a decent defensive midfielder and I'll be happy with this summer's transfers.

Or just get rid of xhaka and I'd be equally as happy

Only watched the highlights but I'm quietly impressed with Saliba, could be a big breakout season for him. Looks a bit like a young VVD when he plays, very reassured and composed which isn't a feeling I usually get watching an Arsenal defender.

It’s not just a case of the result though is it. Friendlies are a gauge of where you are atm, and to totally outplay a Chelsea side like we did last night, shows that we’re in decent shape going into the new season.

We beat Liverpool 4-0. Liverpool are on a different level to us and will show in the season ahead. Friendlies are friendlies. Squads are different, players are missing etc.

I do think the pundits are overstating Chelsea's position however. I do think they will struggle next season. They still have no striker.
