Would you recommend going 980Ti OC on water over SLI 980's then?
To be honest yes as its not that far off. I am really surprised how the TI is handling games so far at UHD. AC Rogue max everything, Dying Light too no probs motion blur only thing off. It just seems smoother probably due to the 6gb VRAM. I need to fire up Far Cry 4 again and have a quick play as I completed it recently and that would be my best benchmark.
My twins arrived
Now I just need to decide on the ASUS ROG Swift or the Samsung S34E790C 34"

Question, why so many SLI's? I used to SLI but these days, there really is very little benefit for smooth playback no?

A lot of benefit for maxing absolutely everything with excellent framerates . There's a lot out there that I find even a single 980ti won't be able to max and keep consistnantly high frames rates

That's what I find questionable. A 980Ti or Titan X does so well at 1440p yet many people double up at this resolution. I wonder if you could have less headache and possibly less software issues that SLI brings with just one card at 1440p. I guess only the owners can give feedback on this and I can see why some would want to make full use of the +60fps you can use on the 144Hz monitors.
I'll be able to tell you soon as I'm going from 980 SLI to 980 Ti Hydro, so I will tell you if there is any benefit at all or if it's a backwards step. If it's a backward step I'm going to have to double up on cards again...
Yeah but what about driver support, flickering and micro-stutter? I heard that half the time SLI doesn't work as it should.
Have yet to experiance microstutter on SLI 970s , 980s and now 980tis . Gameplay wise I couldn't tell if it's being powered by a single or dual card ( obviously I know but it isn't from looking at it ) driver support is excellent however I will concede that the driver supplying the profile for witcher 3 was poor , but that was rectified with the last driver for me . No flickering . For all purposes you would never know without looking in the machine... In recent months profiles have been ready the day befor the release of a tittle . SLI has been a great investment for me personally
It's likely your fps will not peak as high compared to SLI 980s but it shouldn't be too far off with a decent OC. I guess you'll see soon. If you do double up then it'll destroy the 980s.
Hmmm... at least I will have no SLI issues! Do you think it will be a massive difference?
Im hitting temps of 84c atm with my 980ti is this safe? ive never had a card get this hot before highest has been low 70s so im not sure
