The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Well my Zotac Amp seems happy at 1430 with max volts and power limit. Been so he here today which hasn't helped.

Doing so however has bumped my Firestrike Ultra up from 3999 to just under 4400.

Not touched the memory yet.

All on a 2500k at 4.5.

Edit : the card is only hitting 110%, but I see others are higher?? Is that a bios thing?

My vote on my favourite would be the MSI 980 Ti Gaming, much quieter fans, less coil whine (had it on my two) one and runs just as quickly.

Had two G1's, returned them for the MSI ones, couldn't be happier

Bah out of stock. I may look into that one though thanks.

Cheers these seem to go more in depth with the settings used than the ones I found.

This, this, this and this. So little in them you would never tell, whilst the G1 is like a hairdrier when those fans are up and the MSI card is very quiet even at high fan speeds.

The G1 wont be good for SLI either as even at single card usage the fans need to be turned up to sustain those massive overclocks. I had 2 Gaming edition 780s in sli and even though that style of card isnt best suited to SLI,you wont notice as much when the fans have to be cranked up

Got the Zotac 980Ti installed today. :)

Just wondering, am I CPU bottlenecked? I tried to crank everything on GTA V to max, 8xMSAA. Got 40ish fps on the benchmarks, so lowered the MSAA to 4x and cranked down the details draw distance, 61fps or around about there and it would dip to 50s and mid 40s as it went along. Resolution is 1440p btw.

CPU is i5-2550k overclocked to 4.5Ghz. It's from 2011 and I was expecting performance in GTA V to not dip so much on a 980 Ti of all cards! Is it time to grab a better CPU?

Lucky u :-P ive been down the multi gpu route but prefer single now that ive been there done that - water cooling is the next one on my hit list (got my list of parts ek g1 cover due in 2 months if ive got my info right, then imma prob go all in)

I'm thinking about watercooling at the moment myself, always wanted to do a custom one. Depends, maybe in a couple months if EK bring a block out for the MSI 6g (they did for the 980). My GPUs have quite an impact on the cpu due to rising heat and having my h110i gt as a top exhaust. It also heats up quite a bit aswell and is not a quiet system. I'd really like to make a silent watercooled system while still giving great temps.

As soon as the fans kicked in on mine it became (what I would describe as) very noisy.

As a replacement I am looking at the MSI - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-287-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1402 - I hear they are quieter then the G1. Only issue is my case is black and white themed, the colour of the cards isnt ideal.

Is there a downside to buying a reference card? I like the design of the reference models, and the EVGA is in stock and of similar spec - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-281-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1402

I have a 980Ti and at 1920x1080 with 2xMSAA (with TXAA and 2x Reflection AA) it can drop to 50fps in grassy/tree areas.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your 980 Ti.

I spent all of yesterday diagnosing why my 980Ti G1 was performing badly compared to the reviews of it - I was getting around 60-70fps which, as the resolution was 1080p, was below my expectations considering the reported fps on many reviews.

I eventually pinned it down to the advanced graphics options that were hammering my CPU (i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz), bottlenecking it for the GPU - turning off/down the advanced graphics options seemed to free up CPU cycles so it doesn't bottleneck the card so much. Now I play at 80-100 fps, still with the CPU at 90%+, so now today's job is seeing if I can push it any further!

Hope this helps you out a bit, it sure took me a long time to troubleshoot. A tip is to watch your GPU usage in afterburner, if that isn't at 80%+ it may be likely that it is being bottlenecked somewhere.

Just had another mail from EK and it seems that a FC Waterblock for the Gigabye G1 cards could be months away :-/

I can't wait that long so it looks like I'll be sending mine back and getting a couple of EVGA Superclocked with ref coolers instead. Waterblocks a plenty for those.

I have a 980Ti and at 1920x1080 with 2xMSAA (with TXAA and 2x Reflection AA) it can drop to 50fps in grassy/tree areas.
GTAV can be a killer.

I have the GTX 980 Ti SC ACX with an additional overclock and GTA @ 1440p runs like a dream with everything maxed. averaging around 75fps as I recall.

Of course, G-Sync helps.
