The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

I've just found the resolution scale setting in BF4. OMG...all AA off, resolution scale 150%.

I've never seen such beauty! Ok..some games are better looking now..but great gfx uplift on my fav game..that I didn't expect to get from my 680 sli, needs the VRAM though!

FPS is slow like this, so I've notched back to 140% to keep it close to my 120fps magic number.
You can use DSR in the NVIDIA control panel to do the same as res scale.

Until Wednesday is at 599£, afterwards will get back at 619£ (G1 is now @ 619, going back to 629£).

Cheers, yeah still weighing up my options. Was looking at buying a used Titan X but I think it would make more sense to buy brand new 980 Ti with warranty etc. The coolers on the 980 Ti's are better and performance is so similar.

What sort of temps are you getting on the msi's? Got one here and may add another at some point. Very cool and quiet card.

Just run valley a few times, top card is 82c and bottom 71c, that's stock with no custom fan profile, it is pretty warm here tonight so pretty happy with that, my single Titan ran just as hot and that was LOUD :D

Go with the 980ti Boom, I have had both and apart from not being able to hear the 980ti there was no difference, other than the 12GB bragging rights :D

I've been getting the Blue Screen "nvlddmkm.sys" crash in a couple of games on my MSI 6G.

The only fix I can find is to update drivers but I am already on the latest ones 353?

Could it be heat related as my card is still hitting 81c in some games even after setting a fan profile to 100%?
You could try installing driver fusion and removing all amd drivers if you came from an amd card or you could remove all nvidia drivers and do a reinstall
Maybe see if you have any bios updates for your motherboard which say they improve pcie compatbility incase there was an issue with some cards
also
you could try changing the desired target temperature so GPU boost doesn't OC your card so much, but nvidia are obviously happy with the cards hitting 83c or msi are (seeing as nvidias screenshot shows 80c as the default)
obviously unclick link

GPU Boost 2.0 increases the Boost Clock until the GPU hits a predetermined Temperature Target.

More Control, Less Noise

GPU Boost 2.0 also offers improved user-control for desktop GeForce GTX GPUs, who can tweak the Boost behavior by increasing or decreasing the Temperature Target with third-party software. This lets desktop GeForce GTX over-clockers decrease the maximum temperature, speed, and noise output of a GPU when working or playing older games, and to ramp everything up to max when playing the likes of Metro: Last Light.

GPU boost will oc your card until it hits the target temperature and then tries to maintain an overclock that keeps it at that target temperature.

unless a voltage limit stops it first. but on the website it says
"NVIDIA’s engineers determined that GPU temperature was more commonly an inhibitor to performance than power consumption"

that's why your card is hot hot hot

Msi if you value silence Boom. Cooler is unbelievably quiet even when whacked up manually.

Yeah. So far I think the MSI is the complete package. No noise. No coil whine. BOOM.

Yeah I think you guys are right, soon as my RMA is sorted and money back in the bank I will grab a brand new 980 Ti, just can't decide between the MSI 980 Ti, Gigabyte G1 and that Zotac card lol. They all look awesome, Titan X level performance with much better cooling.. Think I'll just go for whichever is cheapest on the day lol.

I have had the G1 and now 2 x MSI, cant go wrong with either to be honest, MSI is quieter but the G1 is not loud by any means.

Did you do a fresh OS install when you installed the Ti? If not its worth doing especially if you have come from an amd card.

I came from an amd card no issues in fact my os was installed in 2012
Modern os handle upgrades fine.

used to be the same os install when I was running an amd chipset even :P rebuilt the whole pc apart from the ssd and hdd which stayed the same.

never had an issue with windows, pc on usually 24/7 no blue screens or memory dump reboots
