• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

I'm sure a custom fan profile will drop those a fair bit. Shouldn't see much if any rise in noise either.

Setter, what oc did you settle on? I've gone +100. I've not tried inbetween but +150 would crash pcars.

I'm now boosting 1430/40 with no problems. Shame I'd like to hit 1500 in game like I can when I bench.

I came from an amd card no issues in fact my os was installed in 2012
Modern os handle upgrades fine.

used to be the same os install when I was running an amd chipset even :P rebuilt the whole pc apart from the ssd and hdd which stayed the same.

never had an issue with windows, pc on usually 24/7 no blue screens or memory dump reboots

The person I was posting towards does have an issue and I have seen this same error before hence why I posted. May be he has already done a fresh OS install.

Either way a fresh install is never a bad thing to do and always ensures your getting the best performance out of your £550 + purchase. Personally I would never do as you have done and leave a refresh of an OS so long or change chipsets on my main rig without a refresh. A fresh OS install doesn't take long these days and a pc is never worst off for doing so, so why avoid it?

Getting the impression that temps are more important than I thought. By that I mean that every person with an AIO cooler is getting great overclocks (1500+), regardless of the ASIC quality.

This is the first proper review of Asus Strix card I've managed to find - it's from a polish website, so I've chucked it into google translate.

Seems like a quieter G1. Another nice card, which should cost no more than the G1 though.

How!? I follow that thing, not a clue how to select the folder through cmd, type the directory nothing comes up.

Open nvflash, with the bios in the same folder, can't figure out how to open it, push one button and it does something and closes

What am i doing wrong?

Although, it is boosting to 1480ish at the moment but hitting the power limit on the very odd occasion.

For daily use I just run stock tbh. Tried 170/200 on firestrike, whilst it completes the tests my score actually dropped. Must've been throttling either due to power limit ir temp. Need to test some more. 170 boosted to 1499mhz.

Right click on the nvidia flash folder while holding shift, click open with command, and then type what it says from the guide :)

Make sure to disable your graphics card in device manager before you flash your bios :)

Was gonna leave it at stock but pcars is soon demanding....

Thinking 4k at crimbo...with another MSI gaming.

Yeah I saw my score drop..at 160.. So backed off to 150.

Out if interest what is you basic?

Have gone back to stock bios on mine. Still manage to get 1500 core. Only difference is it sometimes drops, down to 1475 I think due to hitting power limit.

Scores a bit lower in benches, but I doubt I will see much, if any, difference in games.

Thanks for the help guys, I did use DDU but did not do a clean OS, I use tons of music VSTs and programs that are a pain to reinstall which is why I usually save OS reinstalls as a last resort.

I was on 353.30 someone noted the 353.38 ones were the newest so Ive updated to them hopefully they will help.

I'm worried about my cpu now, I'm pretty sure it hit around 94c during Battlefield :(

I think the heat rising from the backplate is going straight into the cpu cooler.

Back on the stock BIOS after fiddling with an unlocked one last night. It managed to hit 1480 I think.

Managed to squeeze an extra 150 out in Firestrike Ultra though!

I'll be trying more in earnest as and when I get it under water.
