The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

I know how you feel. Even more disappointing to hear coil whine the first time I start playing a game on it.

Ah man I'm sorry to hear that! Is that on the Amp extreme as well? I'm upgrading my PSU to an evga g2 as well so hopefully that should help prevent any whine. This last year I have been on an RMA bender, Ive been through 4 970's (2 msi 1 strix 1 wf) gave up and got a wf980 that also had whine, I RMA'd that and got a replacement which also had terrible whine so I have been on igpu for the last 2 months or so. All cards could be heard from the other side of my bedroom even under 60fps, and that was with a superflower golden green 650 watt PSU so a particularly high quality one! I'm praying this card has no issues and a nice high ASIC!

It's just luck I think, the G1 Gaming (which I bought) seems to be most prevalent for it though.

I've heard of a lot of 6G that don't have whine at all, and you can check through this thread and see a lot of people are happy with their AMP!s, so I'd imagine it's a little bit less common on those.

I'd hate to go through RMAs a lot, solely because I had to send my old GPU back so I have no replacement...

Oh man, good luck with whatever option you choose. As I said above I just gave up in the end, it's so boring going through these processes over and over again only to be rewarded with another card that has the problem. I hope you find a solution!

This beast arrived Tuesday:

*Shows Pic of Gigabyte 980Ti G1*

I hate you :( I've just been informed that mine has been delayed. Again. For the 3rd time. Indefinitely.

All non-reference cards are out of stock in Germany. The only places that have them are charging a nice premium for it.

Where are you looking? I see a few aftermarket models available for immediate dispatch and the prices are at their most reasonable so far.

Is it wrong to base my buying descision of a KFA HOF 980TI more because its white (my build is white/black theme), than its actual performance? I would like the Zoltac for its performance but the KFA is the only white 980TI I am aware of and I worked hard choosing matching components.

Get whatever you want, the HOF IS supposed to be a beast anyway. Another white option would be the Palit Super Jetstream.

Thanks, I had a look at the Palit but think I prefer the KFA. Excuse my ignorance, but is the Hall of Fame branding indicative of anything notable/special about the card or is it just a name?

Additionally, does anyone from OC know if they are expected in today as on the website?

If you get more than one then chances are its your power supply causing the problem

Hey razor, how's your amp extreme? Have you pushed it any further yet? Got mine yesterday, steady 1404mhz out of the box without even changing anything, will try squeezing more out of it this weekend. So far max temps in games are 70c and benchmarks 73c, no coil whine and no louder than the WF and herculez x3 coolers on the other cards in the pic.

I'm sure the HOF would do the same clocks as the amp extreme with a couple of adjustments in AB or precisionX

Benched today @ 1560 with max voltage, but something within the bios was limiting the card (temps were below 60 kepping the fans @70%), core voltage was dropping after about 15 seconds.
I think I'll let you experiment, I'm happy with 1500/8000 with stock voltage :D (don't want to start benching all day, I know I would spend so much time doing it!).

You've also got the plain black backplate, I've e-mail Zotac (not helpful at all) and OCUK about it. Don't know if it's false advertising, but everywhere they showed the Push The Limit one. We'll see what OCUK answers.

Didn't know about the backplate, I have got a thermal probe under the plate though, right behind the GPU where there is usually a 'hole' in the backplate, just wondering how hot it will get there with no obvious ventilation. 1500/8000 on stock is fantastic !
