As I said before, the best solution (despite the hassle that will last a week) is to send both back (they are both less than 14 days old I'm guessing, so you can return them without question) and either get two reference cards, to use with AIO coolers (even the Evga one if it's available), or get 2 980ti hybrids (either EVGA or Inno3D).
Almost no expenses but better performance, noise and temps. If you're spending so much, do it right
On the Single card side, 2 weeks in still loving my Zotac Extreme, extremely quiet rocking 1500/8000 in Gta online.
71C with stock clocks and automatic fan profile in gaming mode while playing a variety of games and noted the usage at 99%. Air from the card feels very hot, near the VRMs and backplate.
Not sure how to check the VRM temps because GPU-z doesn't show this information so has anyone found out how to do this? If I knew which of these infrared temperature devices to go for without going OTT I'd buy one and go hotspot hunting

I just swapped my G1 Gaming for the MSI because the G1 had coil whine.
P.s. are you getting the whine constantly or just at very high frame rates?
