Sorry i'm new to the whole benchmarking thing. Do you think it's my CPU that is holding me back now? It's pretty old and isn't Overclocked.

I've noticed that the MSI 6G idles at base clock (1139 / 3505) resulting in +60C idle temperatures. Shouldn't the card be downclocking when idle?

The zero fan thing is unattainable with this config.

Yes it should drop the clocks when idle. Anything else utilisation your GPU at all at stock?

At desktop mine is at 135/405MHz, 0.848mv at 44C default fan profile at stock, that is fan speed on 0%.

Check the power management in the control panel, set it to Adaptive.

Yes. It was at Max performance but I changed and rebooted before posting here.

That setting shouldn't make any difference. It should clock down even when set to maximum performance.

What I've found (running win 8.1) is that running any Metro **** (even in the background) will cause my graphics to run at full clock speeds.

Is the Zotec extreme amp and MSI the ones to go for still? What's the Zotac RMA like?

Basically yes. Not sure what zotacs service is like, but if you get it from OCUK, if it does go over 28 days then OCUK should step in and offer a solution. The MSI is the quietest and the zotac offers the best out of the box performance, either seem a very good choice and should do 1500 as a 24/7 stable OC.

Thanks andy, I'm going to be away for 3 days so I'll have a look see if there any offers when I get back :D I've resisted for long enough so far...
