The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

What volts? What is a monster clock on the memory btw

Stock volts, I just maxed the power limit to 109%, plus that memory oc wasn't stable as I was crashing in BF4 last night as you probably well know. :p

Good news is I found my stable overclock.
core clock: 1504 (+150)
Memory: 2003 (+500)

However I found last night when GPU boost 2.0 decides to play a merry dance that the games weren't really smooth.

I also fitted the H55 plus Kraken G10. Excuse the dust and messy cables, I will sort that out later as I was in a rush to get it done and had some unexpected problems along the way,:o:( but it's all installed and running now.

:D

Temps are fantastic and best of all that GPU Boost crap doesn't kick in and throttle my cards 12Mhz at 67 degrees celcius and cause sluggishness in games. Also I now have an almost silent system, it is amazing now quiet it is now. :)

I do intend to make a proper thread on the differences, TDP, and screenshots etc but it will take some time but for now here are the temp differences

Before Temps - Ambient 22.5c (Bear in mind that during these test runs the card throttled down to 1491Mhz after 67c and I had a high fan curve, whilst the MSI has an amazing cooler the fans weren't quiet although are very good):

- Idle - 28c
- Metro LL - 72c
- Valley - 69c
- Hitman Absolution - 59c
- BF4 30 minute multiplayer session, Conquest Large 64 Players - 70c

After Temps - Ambient 23.5 (No throttling due to temps)

- Idle - 22c
- Metro LL - 48c
- Valley - 44c
- Hitman Absolution - 35c
- BF4 30 minute multiplayer session, Conquest Large 64 Players - 46c

I will try and see what overclocks I can get later on on stock, but so far I am chuffed to bits.

I don't get this 67c throttle point, seems a bit daft. The reference cards are all good upto 85c. Yet the non ref models all feature excellent coolers which ensure the card will never get near 85c.

So ordered at 4.58pm yesterday and my 2x980ti zotac amp cards have arrived :D good shipping ocuk!

However they had also packed 2 pcie riser interfaces.....dunno why....but more importantly. ....NO HARIBO!?!? wtf ocuk! Might have to rma for that xD hehe

So I'll uninstall the drivers, rip out the 680s, throw in the 980tis then faff about routing 8 pin power leads as currently just using the 6 pins. Then crank gta5 up and bask in it's glory :D

Piccies or it never happened! :p

Should I be hitting the powerlimit at 1427 on an MSI 6g with the slide at 109? It seems to spike a bit. I'm also always hitting the voltage limit.

I take it hitting the PL is bad and could cause crashes?

I'm hopefully going to be a proud owner of a 980Ti in the next couple of months and don't fancy starting yet another 980Ti thread to the hundreds already so I was hoping to get a little help here.

Looking to spend £600 maximum but unsure which one to go for but I've had my eye on these three...

I'm not going to be massively overclocking the card unless it's slips a bit at 1440p. Just wondering which one would be the best to go for?

Thanks guys/girls!

Of those, definitely the MSI. It'll be the quietest by a country mile as well as probably equal to or the best overclocker.

Theres no reason not to overclock, mine does 69C and 1535 core at 80% fan, which sounds like a lot, but on the msi it is still quiet enough.

I'd go for stock reference and one that offers the longest warranty and wack an aio on it.

Wow that's some crazy cabling , looks like a spiders web haha :D

I was swaying more towards the MSI if I'm being honest. I've not gone too much into GPU OC'ing before but I'd give it a go if you're saying the gains are pretty good. I game with noise-cancelling headphones so sound isn't an issue for me, not so much for the girlfriend but I can't imagine anything being louder than dual 280X's! :D

The red and black would also go perfect with my build.

Thanks!
