The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

I was swaying more towards the MSI if I'm being honest. I've not gone too much into GPU OC'ing before but I'd give it a go if you're saying the gains are pretty good. I game with noise-cancelling headphones so sound isn't an issue for me, not so much for the girlfriend but I can't imagine anything being louder than dual 280X's! :D

The red and black would also go perfect with my build.

Thanks!

I am going to go for the Zotac 980Ti at the end of August, ordering my Dell monitor at the end of the week, and some blue braided cables! Happy Days!

Does anyone know if the kraken g10 will fit on the Amp! Extreme? Might go sli in the future and would watercool in that case.

That will be mine :D

It fits the amp extreme nicely, I didn't remove the backplate though and stuck the G10s back plate on top, I just needed some nylon washers for spacing.
Temps are great so far, almost 30c lower on the top card so I'm very happy.

So 980 Ti is back in the game. Turns out to be an issue with my setup and not the card. (Switched everything in PC around recently).

Latest BIOS, re-sat memory. Everything's seems fine. GTX 960 is going in the cupboard until it's time to sell up the 980 Ti for Pascal :p

Anybody using MSI 980 Ti Gaming, my IDLE temps (Fans Off), is around 45C. Anybody else temps the same or lower / higher?

however, this is at 7am in a conservatory, which at this time is a little cooler than the rest of the house

I imagine in a few hours my idle temps might not be so low :)

Whoa

My idle temps with fan off is 29/30.

What case fans you got? I'm in a haf-x with intake front and side...but wouldn't have thought it would make 15c

I'd trade my 29 at idle for it to game at 1500.

I'm currently at 1427 and testing games with long sessions incrementing at 5mhz every few days.

Not tried memory yet.

if you use something like heaven or valley, you can have that running on loop in the background (windowed not full screen), let it heat up the GPU (I find fixed 80% fan is good, not too noisy but very decent on cooling)... let it run for 5-10 minutes to let the temps settle, and then start playing with the OC, mine maxxes out at about 1535/7800 without hitting the power limit (I can increase memory further but after a few minutes it causes the core clock to drop 10mhz)

then test it in a game and maybe back down another 10mhz

as you've already warmed up the GPU before playing with the clocks, it is much quicker to identify a problem than having to play a game for a while and then changing clocks and trying again

Gone back to custom bios, but just the one that ups the power limit and no voltage. Extra voltage over standard doesn't seem to help my clocks, but getting stable at 1500 requires upping the power limit.

I can settle now. Don't know why, but I didn't want to run less than 1500...

Now gonna see what the 960 can do :D

Get 29c with fans off, 25c with fan on. Runs around 900rpm.

Ah cool so some similar IDLE temps and some much cooler, I'm guessing in cases with more fans at higher RPM.

I'm using Cooler Master 690III with all case fans on controller all set at minimum. My CPU IDLEs at 28C.

IDLE temps on GPU when browsing, watching VLC Player around 45C. LOAD temps around 75C with stock clock boost reaching nearly 1400Mhz.

Will clock to 1500Mhz+ core with ease.

Fairly large case here, but airflow in it is very good. Having x2 120mm fans on the hdd cages right behind the gpu helps too. All fans are on a controller too which if required allows them to be turned off. Tend to leave them on but dialled down quite low for light use tasks.

All you guys with msi 6Gs get great clocks at stock, can you say what you volts are under load? I'm interested if since the cards have such great coolers they may have had the volts bumped in the bios. Thanks
