I've been buying this system bit by bit as I couldn't afford it outright and didn't want finance.

Does anyone know if the KFA2 GeForce GTX 980Ti "Infin8 Black Edition" sold on OcUK have the fans spin down when idling like in MSI/ASUS and so on cards?

Can't find info on that card anywhere.

I don't know but I highly doubt it as even the higher end one (HoF) doesn't.

Alright, I'm guessing the Infin8 is just a slightly lower binned HoF with a less flashy shroud.

How's the fans and noise on the HoF? Don't want to buy another Amp! when it's not at the £499 price anymore.

(Replacing GPU because of constant problems as you probably saw in my thread.)

The Inno3D X3 has the best cooler of those "entry level" 980Tis (had one, silent and very efficient).
Can't comment on HoF noise as mine had a bad fan controller which made fans ramp up speed without a reason. It's in RMA now.
From personal experience:

Inno3D X3 Ultra: best cooler, sadly mine had coil whine.
Zotac Amp! Extreme: good cooler (not as efficient as X3's), but bad fan controller - unacceptable for the price, so I sent it back.
KFA2 HoF: great overclocks, flimsy build quality, bad fan controller, worst than what the Extreme had. Vram died, so it's in RMA.
G1: best build quality out of the bunch, good overclock. It just feels solid and the temps stay low while being reasonably quiet.

I'm happy with the G1 and will sell the HoF when it comes back.
Only problem I have with it is that I can't change led colours without Gigabyte's own program.

Wow that's a lot of 980s!

I would have kept the same model (been fine for me so far except one potential HW issue) if it weren't for the fact as it is not on offer, it will be 20-30 more expensive. KFA2 is the only one that isn't (for me) in the realm of stupid money.

Don't want to wait for RMA, can't have any downtime. Any reason the KFA2 is so much cheaper, just trying to push a new model?

I think it's the lesser known brand and they still need time to build trust (even if past cards were quite good).

Another thing you might want to consider(if you really like money

) is that brands like MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA and Asus will hold more resale value just because of their name.

Probably not worth the extra £100 almost to pay for them, however. I would consider EVGA as it seems to be the cheapest of the bunch for its ACX 2.0 model but I've heard those fans aren't the best at keeping it cool.

If the KFA2 is anything like the Hall of Fame edition it should be an absolute beast, both in OCing and cooling.

I would point you towards the Inno 3X, the problem is they don't handle RMA in europe, so if something happens after 14 days, it'll take a month to see the card back.

The palit is another one that has many people happy (to be fair every 980ti is good, as the core isn't that hot to begin with).

Ideally I didn't want to spend more than what I already paid, I was considering a 980 back in the day before that Zotac 980Ti offer at £499. Absolute steal back then.

I can second the Palit's. Excellent build quality and i get zero whining from the two i own

Just read your thread, the KFA2 and your former Zotac are essentially the same card (both use the reference board, just different cooler), how is that going to fix your problem?

I think it is a specific HW (probably signal noise) fault in my GPU. I could RMA the card, but I don't have a cheapy hand me down to use in the meantime, and can't afford downtime as I need the PC for uni. Process of elimination has literally tried everything else; If I still have issues and others don't across multiple chipsets and HW, the finger pointing is likely to be with the GPU.

I saw the Palit for almost 30 cheaper on a competitors rainforest, so I'm very interested in that one!

Fellas, I need your advice regarding an issue with my Zotac AMP extreme edition.

I was running some Heaven benchmarks yesterday and I cannot help but notice my cards cpu, memory controller, video engine and bus interface load remained at 0%.
This was not the case I earlier. Can someone shed some light on it. I hope my card is not playing dead with me, since my order was placed on the 2nd September, meaning my acceptance period with OcUK's warranty has expired.

Any help and advice as to what I should do are very much appreciated.
