You may know that but not everyone does. And what if the question is asked on return of the product? Hence still more hassle free for some who don't want to fiddle with manual overclocks wondering if they are invalidating anything
Would be real easy to have some on-board logging :). "Sorry,diagnostics reports that you have used the component beyond the use it was design for".

I've never once seen someone have their warranty void by an overclock, cards boost themselves to different clocks anyway due to how good the silicon is so it would be very hard to prove. Of course flashing the BIOS voids your warranty if you can't flash it back before returning.

True it would be easy but the GPU does not store that type of information ergo they cannot tell :D

The vendors include overclocking software specifically to support overclocking! :D
