Id like to try join the next walkabout night if possible, not played it much at all, literally less than 20 mins worth but i bet its great fun with a group!

That would put us up to 7. How would people feel if we had everyone in an Oculus Party chat, but split the group into two rooms of walkabout? We play the holes "together" etc, with both groups progessing at the same time. OK, we can't see each others shots, but if we all know the hole we're on etc, I reckon it could work?

EDIT - If the big chat isn't working, we can just drop down to room chat anyway?

why didnt we use party chat in the end ?

im not sure putting 2 groups in one "chat" is a good idea, i think that would be really weird if i cant see you...

if we do split, i think its fair if we split up so that 1 new comer with some of us, then the other new comer is another chat with some of us again, so us usual 4 are split into two

Think because we didn't have Joe as a friend, we all went to App chat, then dropped completely because it tried to put us back in Party chat for some reason. Easier to just exit it. Next time, if we're all friends, we can all join the chat without issue, and leave it as Party.

I agree with the split, and we should do that whether we're all in the same chat or not. Mix it up and meet new people.

What about a movie night in Big Screen beta like @Ravenger suggested? I would be interested in seeing how well it works natively on the Quest 2 and not through PCVR.

As for the Walkabout mini golf. Pity we can't get 1 more player, then we could do two groups of 4. It would still be good fun. There would be nothing wrong with trying the party chat with everyone and if it doesn't work or is just annoying we can just drop into game chat.

I wonder why there is a such a small limit to the number of players?

I'm happy to try hosting a Big Screen movie night. I have a huge library of 3D movies to choose from, including recent films. I've got most of the decent 3D releases - all legit blu-ray purchases. I regularly go to CEX to scout for other decent (and not so decent) 3D movies I don't have. I love watching these on the Quest 2

As for walkabout, I imagine the player limit could be down to it having to run on the Quest. Each player adds more 3D objects to render and track.

I'm really easy going on how we arrange future games/nights. Would be cool to watch a movie in VR, I've never actually done that before.

I'd be up for that, something different to try!

I can't get the bigscreen desktop streamer to work, which is annoying, but airlinking and using the PC bigscreen client works great and I can host a room and get others to join it (I used my Quest 1 to test).

The quality isn't as good as the original movie files though - compression is noticable. Max streaming speed is 5mb/s so that's probably why. Still looks pretty good though. I can try streaming at 720p rather than 1080p, as that may reduce compression but of course will be lower resolution.

I'm quite happy to try streaming a movie on Monday. With big screen you don't even need to friend up - you can use a room ID code.
The Question is which one? And of ideally it needs to be 2 hours or less.

My Recommendations are:
Avatar
Dredd
Ready Player One
Doctor Strange
Mad Max: Fury Road
Rogue One
Gravity
The Martian
Edge of Tomorrow
Prometheus (Ok poor script, but amazing design and 3D).

And that's only a small selection. I've got over 70 available.

ive never done film yet, i dont think i can without someone hosting etc

f we are doing a film, i do not mind any of them , even if ive seen them on my TV, as it will be a new experience to see it in VR :)

I'm willing to try it! Think I'll need to do it via the link cable if I can.

Haven't seen all of them there, but I'd be more frustrated if it sucks on a film I've not seen yet, so would rather start with one I have.

Seeing as you suggested less than 2 hours, then named a large number of long films, I'd not mind Dredd? Short action, could imagine it's fun in 3d?

Quite the selection there! A few of those I haven't seen. I would quite like to watch Doctor Strange in 3D. Second choice would be Dredd, I purchased the 3D bluray years ago and never watched it.

Dredd is a good choice. Great movie and the 3D is supposed to be very good.

Looking forward to this :) Always good to try something different.

In regards to the streaming quality. I have been in rooms where the quality has been great and others where it's been crap. Are the rooms where it's great capped at 5mb/s too?
