The hating of the English.

Well, while we are all hating each other, the rest of the world hates the UK. No matter what worldwide site I go to I see people bashing the UK. It's mainly the USA, for some reason they seem to hate us.

Australia and Canada seem to be the only countries that come to our defence.

Well that doesn't ring true in my experience. When in the US for a month we found the Americans generally loved us. I think it was partly down to them being more hospitable and welcoming than other nations but they were particularly happy about meeting a Brit for the first time and discussing our history, our monarchy and castles then challenging us to drinking (which of course they usually lost at). In that month I must have met over a thousand Americans and I only received a negative reaction from 2 of them and they were best described and nationalist bigots who claimed Obama was "the antichrist". All these encounters were in areas I'd describe as having a "normal" demographic of the US, i.e. not in tourist areas where it would be expected of locals to have a hate of pretty much any other nation :)

Put down to personal experience I now take opinions that I read on the internet with a pinch of salt, after all that is where people with a skewed view are likely to go and rant, it isn't like they are going to log on to rant about nice things is it?

It's so boring in Scotland with nothing to do but become an alcoholic or heroin addict. They also like knives because the savages haven't discovered fire, gun powder or electricity.

The Welsh are Welsh and the less said about them the better. The accent is horrific. The food is awful. The weather sucks. The towns and villages are so depressing in Wales that instead of having outbreaks of alcoholism or drug addiction like in Scotland the youth kill themselves on mass.

The Irish are twinkly eyed ladder stealing drive way tarmac'ers. The world would be a much better place if the entire island was sunk.

What I found is that most people have no opinion of us. They simply just don't care enough to form one.

Both that crest and the UK flag were created before the current Welsh flag (in a time when Wales was not allowed a flag as flags helped incite rebellion) hence why it isn't on either.

The reason England takes up "TWO quarters" is because one of them was originally France as England held claim to it at the time (when the first iteration of the flag was created the flag was just England/France and Scotland/Ireland were added later).
 
I think the 'hating' these days is really just confined to banter between the British countries, can't say I've ever come across a Scot, Welsh, or Irish man/woman with any problem with the English. From those countries though I think the Irish have been the most friendly.

I don't care much towards hating the those countries back either, I may take a jokey dig when it comes to football or something similar, but that's where it ends! :)

:D:D:D If memory serves me right, didn't an English woman get five months in prison for far less abuse than the above? Oh sorry, just remembered it's only English people who are punished for racial remarks.

True, you will also find that the lower classes care deeply about such things or the wannabe pretentious toffs. People such as DirtyDog or Toon_Mad being example of the lower classes.

i dont mind any nations. i will take the pee out of the french and germans though ;)

i love the hypocrisy of some nations. the irish hate us yet they are happy for us to bail them out. the welsh dont like us but without english money they would be a 3d world nation. the scots hate us but dont mind the hand outs.

so stupid.

i refuse to cheer on andy murray though as he is pretty anti-english, yet most of his fans are english.

If Murray wins Wimbledon he will be referred to in the media as "British"
If Murray loses Wimbledon he will be referred to in the media as "Scottish"

The English media like to use the union when it suits them but abandon it when it doesn't.

its been British all day so far for him. lots of nations have bad football fans. the Scottish have caused loads of trouble over here. Germans and Dutch also have a terrible reputation, as do the Poles, Italians and Ukrainians and the Spanish are just massively racist.
 
I've been To England, Scotland, Wales before, have friends etc in various places..never had any trouble, don't have a issue with the people. Enjoyed Wales the most though (if it means anything) :)

I don't like 'England' or the British Gov. though.
