The High-Res Screenshot Thread!

Bought CM2 yesterday. Not a bad little game. Only thing I hate is the little einstien bloke. For some reason I can't listen to his instructions. I have to shut him up and read them myself.

Can't get AA working in it either. Theres no option in game and I'm forcing it in nvidia control panel. Its one of those games with loads of jagged edges too.

Some screenshots of the Lake District and one or two from Wales in Flight Simulator X (using Horizon UK scenery disc)

If i remember correctly (I had only just started playing TW last week after nearly a year, the Pope never actually dies as such, if you conquer rome a "puppet" Pope is put there, then occasionally the papal states faction emerges again around that area, much like the Mongols, if you destroy their territory, they go nomadic and periodically re-establish a territory as their own.

In regards to that screenshot I posted, It was more for dramatic effect, as I'd given myself about 9 billion credits, LOL, I just wanted to see some epic armies, without having to empty all my cities as well :D

On a more realistic note, If I am playing as england or any other Catholic faction, I tend not to expand in central europe, as not to upset the pope. I build ships and take my armies south to Africa and Egypt and start there. There are plenty more lucrative trade items there, and I don't know if its just me, but any merchants I train in those countries always seem to have a good financial skill. Also build mines and also send a merchant to them, they make good money even from a poorly skilled merchant. Money is the key to success in this game.

Also, if you send your priests etc to africa/egypt etc and get those preaching around there, your standing within the papal elections will greatly improve, allowing you to request crusades on none catholic states, you can get some good experienced armies by doing crusades.

Oh and if you haven't already, increase the number of turns, as the default turn number forces you to rush and expand too quickly. If you do this you can expand more slowly, building up a good solid and established set of territories in which to strike from

Hope this helps..

How do you go about changing the amount of turns plz:)

How do you go about changing the amount of turns plz:)

If you go to where you installed the game (normally C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War)
Navigate to;
\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Then open up "descr_strat.txt"

Right near the top you should see a variable called "timescale 2.0", change that to 1.0 to give you 2 turns a year, or 0.5 to give you 4 turns a year.

You'll need atleast the 1.2 patch for it to correctly adjust the aging of characters in accordance with the number of turns, else you could end up having generals aging 4 years in what is actually 1 year lol

You can change a load of things from that file, such as which factions you can play as, how much money they start with, territories held etc, but make sure you back up an unedited file before you go changing anything

they look great, might have to buy that addon, how's it look close up though?

I prefer to fly at around two thousand feet or more which is were the scenery looks really sweet. Under that altitude it starts getting a bit blurry.

Woah mate those screenys are amazing! What addons do you reccomend for FSX im getting it next week as well as its addon.

I use the Horizon scenery disks (3 volumes) and Flight Environment X. Flight Environment X is still in deveopment but its a great program and well worth it for clouds, water and skies etc. The shots look pretty good, but look much better when moving!

The scenery in those FSX screenshots looks amazing, it's just a shame when you glance back at what you're flying in the graphics look like a model from a game made in 1998 superimposed over gorgeous scenery.

 at the FSX shots, bet that needs a beasty rig!

I am using a X1900 256mb card, 2gb of ram and an E6750 at 3.2ghz. Unlocked, the FPS goes from 60-100 if its fairly clear weather (heavy clouds and various other settings will slow the FPS right down). I think FSX tends to prefer a nice CPU and ram more than the gfx card. The reason it runs so well is with the photo scenery you disable all the 3d autogen objects like trees etc. A bit of a compromise, but the scenery looks good to me without 3d trees. And it means quite better framerates compared to default FSX.

The terrain mesh they use is fairly accurate and fits sits very well with the photo textures, last few examples below, and I will stop hogging the thread then ;)
