The High-Res Screenshot Thread!

That Half Life shot doesn't look as bad at high resolution as I expected. Everyone seems to be taking shots of this mosque, I want to see the new toys!

Have you made it be that blurry or is the game really that bad?

the game doesn't look that bad when i've played it

Wooo I recognize all that :D.

EDIT, from your pic, I live here ( yes I managed to find my house, due to the lake in the park near it which I spotted on your screenshot) :

Cool, glad you enjoyed the scenic aerial shots from your town of residence. I just remember it when I lived there as a kid. Funny how some things seems to have changed so much, yet still so much is recognisable. If I get a chance, will try to get a screenshot of that area where you live, the scenery is amazingly high quality, I am sure you could pick out your house easily.

crash into it..

:p

see if your house goes BOOM in rl :D

Already tried, didn't work :P

@Soya: How do you get that scenery for the FSX to work? I've been buying loads of scenery DVDs and nothing even comes close to the realism of those screenies.

Apart from the landmark areas, all I get is a load of generic buildings spread about, with density depending on the options settings, with only a vague resemblence to the actual geographical area.

I'm all green now.

It depends on several factors, the quality of the scenery itself especially what they used as original source (the NL2000v4 scenery was taken with high quality satellite imagery just a few years old) also depends how many pixels per metre they deliver it as (most older scenery is 1M per pixel or greater, meaning smaller install size but much less detail, esp close up) whereas max can be 7CM pp which is extremely detailed but very very heavy on install size, ie more data plus it more taxing on your PC, not so much FPS but disk access and memory storage of all this data. That leads into the other factor, hardware, the better your hardware, the better the ability cope with FSX in general, not just FPS but handling of vast resource and photo real data. The last factor is settings, FSX is pretty old but there many way to improve its performance for your PC by using the correct tweaks and they vary from system to system. You need to experiment which work best for your system. One of the most important tweaks/fsx.cfg changes for photoreal scenery is LOD_Radius, default is 4.50000, mine is 9.50000 but again, depends on what your PC can handle.

EDIT: alas this highly detailed scenery is prone to 'blurries' especially if you fly fast. The sweet spot for my PC/system is @60-80knots, I can use jets but then I slow down time compression to 1/2 or 1/4, so flying at 250knots will only be @60knots at 1/4 time compression, so blurries become less. In theory, the more powerful PC hardware is becoming, the better FSX as a whole will run.

About your generic look, that sounds like default FSX landscape, if you do install any scenery, make sure it is added to the library otherwise it will not show up. Most scenery nowadays though should add themselves automatically. Anyways, hope it help, use the web to check out about tweaks etc, plenty of info about it.

In the meantime, here is another series on this amazing scenery, this time using my favourite KLM liveries, enjoy:

You know taking into account how many games people bought over Steam sales, there's been a disappoint amount of screenies in this thread!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R SHoC L.U.R.K 1.1

Definitive STALKER SHoC Mod in my opinion, beautiful yet brutal. Everything has been re-done pretty much from the ground up in both the graphical and gameplay aspects. If you're a hard-core S.T.A.L.K.E.R fan I strongly suggest that you try this out.

I've been following the development for about a year or so now and 1.1 was just recently released.
