The High-Res Screenshot Thread!

Think so ?, there is plenty of other unreleased games posted in multiple threads and all Pictures are freely avail on the WWW, mainly in review sites. :)

I even got permission to upload the Crysis Bonus DVD Pictures long ago.

There is more trouble caused by others trying to trip up the posters of these pictures. ;)

the textures on the cactus in the last screen shot are appalling, looks worse than many ps2 games, and the photobucket, low res wouldn't change them to that considering what the character looks like.

If you're talking to me, it's set to 4XAA. :)

Nothing forced in CCC as 4X AA is enough for me really, it doesn't look too bad. Although the game has the occasional jerk which gets annoying... I put that down to the game coding though !

Its demonstrating depth of field, computer graphics can be too perfect.
I posted it because the bf2 engine cant do depth of field, thats something you'd see in crysis not a 3 year old game so here some smart guy has modded the shader effects to simulate the idea I think, very clever

I've never understood DoF effects in games. When you look down the sights of a gun, the world around you does not suddenly turn into a mass blur. In fact it looks exactly the same as when you are not looking down the sights! The screenshots presented above look silly.

It doesn't turn into blur but you can't really see a point clearly unless you're concentrating on that spot. Hence the blur simply tries to simulate that, it's not ideal but it's all we got.

Some of it is down to awareness, it takes milliseconds for your eyes to change focus but you cant see everything in detail all at once. If you focus on something 300m away then your foreground vision and awareness should suffer.
Obviously with a flat computer screen you can do all this and the gameplay and immersion feel is poorer for it.

BF2 fails for other reasons because the field of vision is wrong, etc but they are trying to improve things slightly anyway
