But yes, more photo-esque than "this is reality"... As I have said in other posts about DOF in this thread, it can aid immersion for a game. However, It's not for all games. You have to think of it in the realm of screen media, people don't scoff at DOF in movies.

You've hit the nail on the head. If this is the case, what's the point in blurring half the screen in game? The only semi-helpful way to do it would be to blur objects that are outside of a certain depth, not just everything that's not in the middle of the screen. Those screenshots look great, but they look more 'photo-realistic' than 'realistic'.

Very true, but that's the problem. We'll never be able to perfectly emulate DoF in a game, lots of vanilla titles have tried with Firefall having the best DoF but even then you never really notice it. While it is more photo-realistic than purely realistic in Skyrim, it is very noticeable and for those who can play with it on without distraction it enhances the visuals tenfold. For those who can't... that's fair enough, but while it may or may not be better (opinion) in game, there's no denying it looks great in screenshots. Something which it was probably designed for, hence the hot and cold opinions of it in-game.

EDIT: Just used the f12 screenshot function in steam. How do I change it to be the res im playing at? Is there an uncompressed option or do I need to do it another way?

No, it's all custom and constantly changing with far too many mods to list out individually. I'll add a recent image of my mod list from Wrye Bash, though.

I do think the S.T.E.P mod list and tutorial is probably a good place to start, as it likely uses many of the same mods and should be easier to follow.

As for the ENB preset, I am using superb ENB with some modified settings that disable sweetfx, enable ENB's edge antialiasing and DOF, and also improve performance. The latter might be more of an issue for me due to running over 150 mods, though. Also, here's a copy of my modified settings from the enbseries.ini file.

The ENB preset is quite hit and miss, can look great in some places and very ordinary in others. It's based on the latest 0.157 ENB files.
