How does morrowind compare to oblivion game play wise? I've only ever spent a few minutes with it really. I really enjoy oblivion and Skyrim so is morrowind worth a shot too?

In all honesty, I'm struggling to think of a detailed response to your question since it's been quite a while since I've played either game (I haven't yet bought Skyrim). I've always preferred Morrowind over Oblivion, but I'm not too sure why - which I appreciate sounds odd. At stock, I certainly liked it more for the visual style alone. Sorry I can't be any more helpful than that! :D I guess to sum up, I would say that the game play is similar, so if you like the others then you'll more than likely take to Morrowind. I seem to recall that I found Morrowind, modded or not, more atmospheric and down right creepy at times than compared to Oblivion. I'm extremely fussy when it comes to wanting to play through a sword/sorcery rpg to completion, but Morrowind is for me the most compelling and enchanting rpg experience I've had.

Mod it with any number of the popular main mods out there (I've only used MSGO - which was very good), and see what you think. I'll see if I can't dig out some screen shots, though I can't promise anything.

This, I think is the latest version of Morrowind (MSGO), which I haven't used yet :

Then there's Morroblivion, which I started to tinker with but never completed the process to get a working mod (not sure if this is the latest version).

I dug this up as well, a previous thread on another mod in progress called Skywind - though iirc it probably won't see the light of day :

I found some screen shots taken by other forum members. One thing that springs to mind during these moments of reflection, is that people seem to prefer the storyline / setting / artistic direction of Morrowind - but considerably prefer the combat mechanics of Oblivion. Personally, I never found the combat in Morrowind bothersome at all, though perhaps if I'd played Oblivion more my opinion might have been different.

Well the best way to sum up the differences between Oblivion and Morrowind, is that MW is DnD, heavily number based and heavily engineered to be a roleplaying experience. Oblivion is somewhat more streamlined and accessible, and has more orientation around pick up and play action. MW has much higher quality content but requires much more effort on the players part, so it's all stuck behind a wall that sadly most players can't get past. It's also quite dated no matter how much you mod it, not visually but animation/combat wise. It's hard to make a true roleplaying experience in any perspective bar isometric, which is why the majority of them tend to blend with action and aren't true RPG titles. True RPG games aren't that popular, and it shows with TES series. It never became truly popular until Oblivion at which point it became an Action RPG. Oblivion sold more than the first 3 TES games combined for a reason.

1920x1200 Max Everything. Great looking DX9 game from the same developers as Hard Reset (Wild Flying Hog). Old school simple FPS run gun hack n slash but great fun & worth buying @ full price ;)

I have every pc game since I left Ireland in April last year to get through. My gaming pc is currently in the Suez Canal in a container with all my belongings.

It arrives here in Perth on the 9th Dec.

So I will be very busy for the next few months catching up.

Will also need to upgrade my system. It still has my EVGA 8800 Ultra Blackpearl, and older hardware.

Following the Mirror's Edge screenshots above, I finally got round to installing it yesterday evening and playing it for a bit (well, until my HTPC decided to suddenly grind down to ~10fps for some unknown reason) - certainly a very unique art style, just got to get used to the control on the 360 pad :)
