***The High-Res Screenshot Thread!***

Lovely, my only wish is that someone would make one big mod for Skyrim, that includes like the 100's of mods needed to get game looking that great.

not going to argue, its incredibly long winded and at times frustrating getting everything working together, but when it does, wow it's still the best looking game IMO. My last count on my own modded Skyrim was around 380 mods, it's not just visually impressive but gameplay and immersion as well. It's incredible how amazing you can make this game with the right selection of mods. And, it's incredibly rewarding when everything works perfectly.

That DOF is way to strong for my own liking but nice screenshots all the same.

Exactly, im playing just vanilla Skyrim Special Edition at the moment and its great, i just dont have time to install all the mods, but yeh a heavily modded game looks great.

Getting the game stable and looking great is a challenge in itself. I must have spent around 300 hours tweaking Skyrim and trying to balance visuals and mods up. The frustrating thing with mods is that you think you have them all working well together and you then start getting random crashes or realise particular mods are not running due to another one blocking it. You then have the visuals to deal with, its quite common with ENBs and other filters such as SweetFX to get them looking great outside in the sunshine but as soon as it gets dark or you go into an interior all the colours change and everything looks terrible so you have to continue tweaking.

After all that it has to be playable in my opinion. Ive never created visuals that can only be achieved by having so much stuff switched on you are pulling 5 fps out of the game. There is much better out there but these people only do it for the screen shots, im proud of the fact that my games look like this and you can pick up a save and happily play through the game with great visuals at between 50 and 80 fps which is totally playable.

Personally not a fan of ENB in general, it blows out the contrast etc. far too much for my liking, screenshots above look good on the whole but just an example of what I mean:

Of course, what I see on my monitor may be very different to what other people see...

Regarding mods, this is where PC is superb and also frustrating..... :p Fallout 4 with mods is an incredible experience, really want to get back into it but I just CBA re-dll and installing all the mods I had and then having to do the above i.e. checking it all works well with other mods and the current version of the game etc. etc.

Yea i agree. Those are very bright. In game they do look slightly darker as the brightness slider needs changing right down. I also agree with the installing of mods although once you start you cant stop and hours pass. In the end it is so worth it :).

It really isn't hard with the Special Edition. A few texture packs and a Reshade profile, neither of which will affect stability and it looks amazing.

I've been throwing mods at the game(200+) with no issues. Not having SKSE released for SSE is a blessing in disguise

Yeah, I despise ENB. People think it looks good since it crushes whites and blacks making them think its a richer deeper picture. I also despise the saturation mods that makes everything look toony.

+1

I've had it sat in my library for goodness knows how long yet I never seem to get around to modding it. I think for my first playthrough (yes, I've barely even played it at all), I could do with a mega mod pack, but the thought of modding something of this magnitude makes me turn to something else. I really must get around to as Morrowind is one of my favourite games, so I should like Skyrim very much.

I have stopped using sweetfx for most of my games now due to blown out colours, very rarely can I find one that I like now and the only time I will use an overblown one is if the games standard colours are completely dull/washed out looking i.e. dishonored or mafia 3

I used it once with rFactor many years ago since it is such a dull flat looking game but it made the sky look awful. The tyres shadow detail was all crushed. Awful.

hehe that reminds me of one of the star wars battlefront sweetfx configs, look at the sky/planets/moons:

:o

It makes you wonder just how bad some of these sweetfx creators displays are :p

Those Skyrim screens are wayyy to bright, do you play with sunglasses on?
Have you ever been skiing before when its bright sunshine? When the sky is not clear which is a lot of the time in Skyrim it looks less bright. Its about realism and thats not far off. The brightness does also seem to increase with more DOF.
