Don't know about reinstated, but a lot of lawyers on different media today, all say he got a very very good case to go after the Sun for the lies they told,

So it's gone from 'Rod Liddle, he worked for the BBC and wrote this, what a grubby nonce' to 'Well, it's satire, innit' after it was mentioned he now writes for The Sun and is the associate editor of The Spectator?

i think it is possible he could sue the Sun if the underage thing is not true.... but i dont see how his position is tenable either way even if he WAS innocent such is the court of public opinion and the insistence that "even if he didnt do X, he probably did Y and i thing that is immoral". (or to coin a phrase.. .where there is smoke there is fire.)

If Sun has any sense they'll issue an apology to pre-empt any legal action (partially in anticipation of potential punitive fines for MGN in ongoing hacking trial - cost them 1Bn so far)

not from me....i despise the sun and Spectator .... and like i said , i do not doubt he is not a nice person AND i think the article in the Sun was a disgrace, but i do not care who he works for i just commented that that to me doesnt read like a literal piece...... not without more context anyway. I could be wrong however, hence the question mark!.

Not exactly on topic but it seems the tabloids got hold of the story that Dele Alli had been in rehab, so it forced him to get the story out first. Again this is none of our damned business. I'm a Spurs fan and watching it it does explain some things about him but he shouldn't have to come out and tell everyone this, especially considering he didn't yet feel ready to share what are traumatic events. **** our press, this isn't freedom of speech/press. Far too many of them are animals who prey on people for clicks :mad:

I think his job has been sabotaged by the incompetent and damaging claims which fell apart.

I also say because The Sun presented the incompetent and damaging claims which sabotaged his job, they have a case to answer.

What he chooses to do about that, you'll need to ask Mystic Meg.

We're up to half a dozen BBC "claims" which are looking increasingly tawdry without the original claim standing up but the severity of the claims are on a totally different scale.

I think he will resign before the enquiry concludes and won't sue anyone because he won't want it raked up in court - I await his denial explanation statement with bated breath.. and suspect there will be further allegations..

Anyone with an ounce of professionalism would have resigned just off the back of the snapchat pic* given their position would be untenable but anyway..

*assuming its real..

An apology is to write a blank cheque to Huw without selling more papers. Over the dead body of that 90 year old ghoul that owns it.

He's on the line to lose a 400k a year job over a newspaper printing an incompetent story, that's worth getting the handbags out for.

Speculatively.
Huw presents that he's been defamed and claims libel has been done.
The Sun has to present that they had a good reason to print a story despite having zero agreement from the "victim".

The mind boggles at how The Sun can defend this. Did they bet everything on a real story appearing if they slandered Huw on their front page?
