God!! I thought my rig was expensive at £520 lol

im just gathering funds now, il be going for the bad boy setup Xtream all the way, i already have the ddr3 so i just need to get 1k togeather to buy this, shouldnt be too difficult.

I would love to see Q9550/Q9650 at 4+ Ghz vs Nehalem 2.66ghz clocked at whatever it clocks too in terms of gaming performance.

No point making up your own conclusions but I can't see it making a big improvement like conroe did for Intel in comparison to what Penryn is now.

Conroe to Penryn? Penryn to Nahelem?

Only reason I would be it is because its something even newer, waste of money though lol.

Has anyone been brave enough (i mean rich enough) to pre order?

I've only had my rig about a week & I'm tempted, I could make back the money with a loss of about £30 as I got it a lot cheaper new anyway. :)

Think I will pass for now as games see very little difference (Lost Planet & Devil May Cry4 show the biggest boosts I have seen for this) so only really for e-peeners or those with more money than sense.

6 months is a better time to buy as by then you will be able to get 3rd party HSFs and the clock speeds will be much higher as well. Early adopters always get to pay the high prices. Surprised the Extreme Edition is so much as the $-£ price is around £750!!

il dont think il pre order to such but actuly buy it when it comes out as thats when i get paid anyaway and thats when il have the funds to do so.

You forget the people that actually use the cpu grunt for work, games and benchmarks aren't the only reason you'd buy one of these.

I'll be buying before xmas I imagine, probably the 2.66GHz model, but I'll wait a few weeks until the prices settle I think.

A bit of a joke when the Memory voltage affects the CPU Voltage ! (they obv for once did not copy AMD's idea's) ;)

HI there

Did you read my post?

I've been running continuously with 2.06v memory voltage and have been upto 2.15v, the CPU still lives and shows no sign of dying.

How long have you been running the rig? Has the rig been running continuously over a long period?

The thing is does the problem occur over a longer period of time . . . .

stupid claim!

How about people who encode, decode, render, compile, virtualise, scientific computing, data mine .......................

i want to pre order so much but is there a release time as i have been putting off my pc build since i first heard before easter..

it looks again the 200-300 cpu again lol just like the e6600 back in the day 2 years ago

The rig has been on my desk for over a month, its set at 3.60GHz with 1.30v, memory at 1.96v (1900MHz CAS 8-8-8-16) and all seems fine with it. :)
