The i7 has landed for pre-order.

can anyone explain why http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ue Edition 1866C8 (6x1GB) Triple Channel DDR3

is 493 £ when u can buy the same ram http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...n 1866C8 (2x1GB) Dual Channel DDR3 (CS3222770)

3 times and pay 458 £ ? i always though if you buy in bigger bulks u get it cheaper ? ocuk think in different way?

At a guess I would say that it is because not many people are selling in packs of 6GB yet...still seems odd though!

It seems a little pricey for me! Think I may upgrade to Wolfdale at Christmas, then go i7 when Windows 7 comes out; don't want to change mobos and therefore need a new OEM key for my Vista install!

I find it odd that they're selling 6x1GB instead of 3x2GB.

If you look at the price difference between two packs of 2x1GB and one pack of 2x2GB and use that as a base, then 3x2GB should be about £280

so basically u will need to underclock your memory and timings to not damage i7 cpu what the heck ?

I think it may be best to buy i7 when fast lower voltage ram becomes available. Hopefully memory companies know about this problem already and are preparing low voltage ram, and we hopefully shouldn`t have long before we see them come avalible.

Something has gone very wrong here, When setting VDIMM voltage it has ZERO affect on the CPU or the onboard memory controller, All it does it set the voltage that supplys the RAM, The ES sample i have used works like this and i would expect all other board to be pretty much the same, Maybe ASUS has dont something rather strange with there board, The intel board i have used DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE.
