The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Thanks guys, will have a look. The training plans look pretty good actually, much more available than when I was last using Zwift.

Was on it again this morning, going to try and do 4 days a week to start, 30 minutes first thing in the morning. Did one of the routes this morning which felt a lot easier as I knew what elevation to expect

I forgot how painful and uncomfortable it is for the first few rides while your rear gets used to the saddle again :D
I was in a similar situation to you having only cycled a bit here and there for the last 5 years or so due to illness and injury. I started with the Zwift 'Back to Fitness' plan, although I had more time to ride so completed it in 7 weeks rather than 12. But seems to have got me back in the routine again. Did another ramp test at the end and saw a nice noob gains FTP bump of 16%. Have now started the 6 week 'Zwift Racing' plan which will take me to when the clocks change. Finding that significantly harder but enjoying it.

I found the plans just kept me consistent and focused on improving. You can always free ride in between if you want anyway.

Just realised that the Cheddar Gorge climb is on the portal! I’ve been down the real life thing a few times but never up. Threatened to do it for a year or so now so I’ll do just tonight

First time in about a year I did a race yesterday, well make that 3, jumped on Tour De Zwift and my BT received stopped working about 15 minutes in, then joined another after a reboot, but it joined me as Cat C so just pootling around, then jumped on another Cat B and came home in 10th, definitely not as mental as my last time on, so got into a good rhythm off the start, but after keeping in touch up Leith Hill died a death on Box Hill pushing 5.5w/kg, cruised home in 10th in the end, but good to go on Zwift with a nice PC after upgrading the components a few months ago.

I've made myself a list and I'm trying to tick as many off as I can. Don't know I'll have the guts to try the Tourmalet at the end of the week though :(

Hmm, 1213m of climbing without any any scenery. Netflix or loud rock music needed!

Yeah it’s a bit less dreary! I haven’t had a chance yet. My daughter decided to be ill. Inconsiderate little *****.
Shame, hope she's OK and it's nothing serious.

Yeah she’s fine Just the usual nursery germs and her being a bit needy (wonder who she got it from. Hint: not her mum). It’s on all week so I’ll do it on a day I don’t have a training session booked in.

@Trifid

About 75kg atm

4.7 w/kg now.

Yeh there is a big jump from B to A. I can't do all the sprinting, never have. But the inbetween bits were much more 'sedate' in B than I'm used to in A races.

If it makes you feel better I am firmly at the back of D

Had to do some one legged exercises this morning. My left leg much prefers to pedal in squares it seems.

haha! Do you have a PM that measure L/R balance?

I do. For some reason my kickr doesn't take the data from my pedals but on my last outdoor ride my Left/Right Average was 50/50 with my average L/R Torque Efficiency being 66/67. So I always thought they were fairly equal but it just felt like my right leg was smoother with the pedalling action.

Bad news: I'm still quite a way from where I was, power wise, pre-fatherhood.
Good news: I weighed in at 82.2Kg yesterday so I'm the lightest I've been since Fatherhood.

Really determined to stick with this plan this time. Cutting myself a bit of slack because my December was not a pleasant one and it threw me off. I've set myself some targets for the spring which if I hit I'll count as a success

No demoted from A+ to B, due to lack of racing in Zwift.

Then DQ’d from B race. :(

Thats because you are a little watt monster!

I was sympathetically thinking"poor Junglist" as you regaled us with your tales of illness and lack of training and how I am in exactly the same boat. Haven't been well for more than a week since mid-december and its so frustrating. You know that there is no point just "training through it" because you do it a couple of times only to find it just prolongs your illness.

Very very frustrating. Was going quite nicely and had hit an FTP of 260. Its probably back around 220 at this point. Perhaps less.

It wasn't so much me being ill but losing two family members in 3 weeks just put me into a spiral of eating/smoking and generally being a lazy *****. But I can't have a pity party forever!

If nothing else though I bet your numbers will be back in no time. Don't rush it! Plus on top of that you've got twins. Be kind to yourself man!

So I got a code 7 from last night's race.

Power exceeded power division limits.

Zwift put me in class B!!! How does that work?!
Not enough results over 4 minutes max effort in the last 90 days will drop you down on CE quite quickly! Always race up if you know!

4.7 w/kg now.
You sandbagging piece of **!  ;)

I'm in B at barely 3.5 FTP, the top of B tends to be 4.2 but most riders smashing ZRL with 4.0 averages used to be A riders, just CE shuffled (screwed) things so much!

I've set myself some targets for the spring which if I hit I'll count as a success
Keep it up! You Can Do it! :D

Just about to turn the corner on this... https://www.flammerougeracing.com/

'World Tour - Triquetra' - March 2nd - 24th. 21 Stages. 3 Tours blended together. 930 km & 11,200m ascent of riding with 2 rest days. Needless to say I've not committed to it all, just can't justify that much time on the bike, so just another solid training block for me of probably doing 10 days of it hard maybe racing 1 of the Editions while being a domestique to GC riders in the other stages I choose (or am allowed) to ride. :o

Very very frustrating. Was going quite nicely and had hit an FTP of 260. Its probably back around 220 at this point. Perhaps less.
You'll be surprised how quickly things come back with some consistency and targets! But also chasing numbers is a bit of a fools errand - at least without some end goals and targets to aim for.

My target is to be able to come on here and humblebrag about how "bloody Zwift putting me in class A" because I'm such a beast! (just kidding Shadowness)
