*** The iPad Air thread ***

Been looking at getting an Air but there was a cracking deal on a 128GB Ipad 4 with 3G today that I couldn't say no to. Hope I won't regret it!

I went for same deal except wifi version as 3G out of stock

Cracking deal as our 32gb ipad 3 is always full

Have tethering with contract on phone so non fussed about non 3G

For 50 quid less than a 32 gig air a 128 4 is a no brainer

Going to collect it tonight, we've got a 16GB ipad 2 which is always full and a bit laggy on ios 7 so should be a nice upgrade. Just need to find a cheap contract now.

I'm trying to decide between 32gb and 64gb, and wifi or 3G. I can tether the ipad to my phone so that shouldn't be too much of an issue, but I don't know if I'd ever use 64Gb.

I'm loving my new air especially the battery life compared to my ipad3 I'm now on 43% and this is my usage
Usage 7hours 25 minutes
Standby 17hours 25 minutes

So I received the apple smart cover for my air today...except only there was 2 stuck together and the person in the shop had obviously not noticed as the receipt showed only being charged for one!

WIN! :D

My other halfs mum picked up one for herself today in John Lewis (just to make my day even worse :p). Can't see myself holding out much longer! Would quite like them to add a touchscreen function for the home button though. My ipad 2 is certainly starting to feel slow. Then again, I don't use my ipad much anymore unless I am away from my pc for a few days.

week with the Air and i'm absolutely loving it, The battery life on it is fantastic, watched about 3 movies on it last night and still had over 60% left, only niggly thing is some of the apps on my iphone are not made available on iPad (not really apples fault, more for the developer), every app I use its just very quick, games run really smooth.

Though I'd probably not use the Touch ID thing, but when you say update, do you mean as in Software update, or an actual hardware change?

Yeah the lack of Touch ID certainly wouldn't stop me getting one now, not really needed if you mainly use it indoors, he means hardware update.

I expect they'll update the air early to add touch ID.

Why is everyone so obsessed with TouchID for the iPad?!

TouchID is very well suited to the iPhone for the simple reason that you generally check your phone quite often so it alleviates the tedium of entering a PIN code each time.

Tablets are a totally different story. You don't tend to pull out a tablet all that often so there's no major time-saving benefit to having TouchID on them. Sure it always helps but it's far from the "must have" feature that some seem to think and I see no logical reason why Apple would rush into releasing an updated model just to include it.

Got a 32gb iPad Air with the 0%, arrived yesterday and I am fully converted. Love it. Just going through the motions of installing familiar apps. I bought an Invision case for £12. Seems to do an ok job compared to the smart case.
The only thing I'm surprised about is that Instagram isn't available on it!

Just picked on up as I had a few Tesco vouhcers. Loving it, such a nice upgrade from my original first generation one.

Anyone recommend a decent screen protector? Not too fussed about a case as it'll never really leave the house!

I am using a Anker one. Lifted it up 4-5 times due to dust under it and used the small sticker that comes in the pack to remove the dust.

Got it on with no bubbles or dust.. Recommended...
