The Killers - Sam's Town

They sound british because they mean too.

They were massively influenced by britpop (I think probably pulp the most), british 80s pop (notably duran duran) too. Plus, they wanted to crack the uk - I think its quite telling that they're spending so much time here, and basically set up camp here when hot fuss made it big.

All these things that I've done's video is shot in the east end of london too, so I gues they like it here.

Damn, I'm happy for them to stay, they're awesome. Plus, continuing britpop is a good thing!

Ah. Cheers for that. Didn't realise they shot some videos over here. Is the All These Things That I've Done the one where they walk around London with all their fans with them? I knew that was London thank you very much! ;)

Don't they also like Oasis? Saw a clip of some documentary on YouTube and Brandon mentioned that they invited the Oasis Gallagher brothers to a concert in the UK. Turned out the "other" Gallagher turned up. They were a bit miffed at being rejected.

That's the one :p

My sister's in that video!

Yeah, also they loved oasis afaik, and nme etc etc. I'm really hoping the album is awesome.

I too hope the album is awesome. I pre-ordered it on the back of Hot Fuss and I've only really listened to When We Were Young once so I have virtually no idea what it'll be like. Kinda scary but exciting in a way. Bit like Ta-Dah by Scissor Sisters and The Captain And The Kid by Elton John. I just knew I liked their respective previous work and took the plunge.

She's in the crowd, at the front of the live scenes :)

Elton John? In fairness it could be very good. I've just got the rapture's new album on the basis of hearing a couple songs over the tannoy at a record store at picadilly circus, its awesome. Though strangely, they told me it was the rapture playing, but the cd doesnt sound the same, so while its good it wasn't the sound I was expecting.

Ah, will keep an eye out for her. :p

You be dissing de Elton? Although I'm a rocker at heart thanks to Queen and Led Zep etc I like a bit of piano music and Elton is brilliant I think. The Bridge is a stunning song.:o

yea they were influenced by british music that they like, they dont say 'right lets make music that sounds british so we can sell it to them' as one more solo was saying

Got the album through my letterbox earlier today and only just started to listen to it. I have to say I do like it. Nothing is standing out for me at the moment but it never does until I've listened to the album several times.

"This is good music"? More like this was good music before it was rehased by a load of Yanks pandering to the UK market.

I heard The Killers aren't welcome in their home town anymore, due to how british they are.

read my mind, and for reasons unknown are class songs

I agree, both great songs. Not listened to the album enough yet but so far its great:)

Favourites at the minute are Sam's Town, Bling and For Reasons Unknown. And I agree with whoever posted that it kinda tapers off towards the end of the cd, after track 6 it does drop in quality to me. Although I like the Enterlude and Exitlude tracks.

Sorry to say this but I've heard it and it really isn't that good. Very similar to what Muse and Razorlight did. Everyone was expecting something great, but what we got was nothing more than average. Perhaps people are just getting fed up with the Indie genre now.
If you honestly think Muse fit into the 'indie genre' then you seriously need to re-assess your musical-genre-choosing-skills.

Bought it this morning. Good album but not up to Hot Fuss as of yet. Maybe after a couple more listens?

Also, Muse's album got a unanimously good reception from the major publications, which cannot be said for Razorlight; having heard bits of it, it's basically U2-lite.

Only listened to this album about 3 times so far. still undecided. I have been waiting for this to come out for so long I guess I was expecting a little more. especally after the front man proudly boasted in an interview 'it's the best rock album relelased in the last 20 years'

Oh well, its a long way off that, not a patch on their debut album either. still has some really good songs on it though. Uncle Johnny is a class tune. it just doesnt grab you like their first effort in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents

It's good but it's not even close to Hot Fuss for me.

It seems quite "samey" and darker than Hot Fuss which had more upbeat tracks and variety of tempos.

Needs more listens...

That's because he's a vain, preening tool who's more interested in dressing sharply than writing music.

Bit harsh mate, nowt wrong with being a snappy dresser with a sense of identity, and after creating an album as great as Hot Fuss I think he has some right to be cocky, just not that much

Just listening to it for the firt time, bling is pretty cool.

Didnt like that weird 'all together now' end to the first song  but maybe it'll grow.

Not exaclty as snappy as 'i got soul, but im not a soldier' is it?
